Note sent by the Municipal Socialist Group:
The controversial full on Monday May 25 ended with the withdrawal of the PSOE in two of three motions, before imposing the CP Group to the opposition of one aspect of performance of the whole, while debating a motion IU Greens collective support of gays and lesbians.
The Socialist Party believes that equal treatment on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity is still far from achieved, despite the fact that Spain is an example in the fight for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), recognized by the International Community and the European Agency for Fundamental Rights.
Socialist Councillor Esther Clavero introduced an amendment to request the removal of PP constitutional complaint against the law of marriage between same sex, since "if indeed the PP wants equal treatment to gays and lesbians fight homophobia should begin withdrawing this appeal against the law. "
The PP rejected this amendment and the motion of IU Greens, but imposed a proposal with a call vague and insubstantial against all discriminations, and neutralizing perverting the true purpose and interests of the motion.
The PSOE believe in respect and freedom for all gay, bisexual and transgender people around the world, so we call on local and regional government to be bold and bet with clear and convincing measures in favor of the rights of LGBT.
