Jacinto Benavente (1866-1954) is one of the most important Spanish dramatists of the first half of the twentieth century, along with Valle-Inclan, Arniches, Jardiel or García Lorca.
This is a family tragedy, whose theme is built around a love triangle: on the day of the marriage proposal of Acacia, her boyfriend is killed.
This will Raimunda, mother of the girl, to initiate an investigation without rest takes different paths to face the truth.
In essence, the work is a storm of passions taken to the limit: the confrontation between a forbidden passion and social and moral conventions that impede the fulfillment of desire.
