The Municipal UPyD in Molina de Segura has proposed to the other parties represented in the Consistory filing a joint motion that is collected in the institutional support of the City Council and associations of families affected by Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), represented in our town by the Association Adahi Molina, and recently have developed a Manifesto, through its Federation, which called attention to the need for greater awareness of the problem.

According to his spokesman announced, Encarna Hernandez, "we require the commitment of all the Corporation to collaborate actively in the campaign to collect signatures to support the request to the WHO to declare a Global Day of Awareness about ADHD" one of the main demands included in the Manifesto published recently by the Federation.

As stated in the Manifesto, the Attention Deficit Disorder Hyperactivity Disorder is a serious psychiatric condition that affects about 5-7% of children and 4-5% of adults worldwide.

According to those involved, the difficulties they have to face people with ADHD are not so much that there are no effective treatments, but to insufficient awareness of the disorder, to the limitations and restrictions on access to doctors and specialists with expertise and the variable availability of diagnostic and treatment services.

Another problem, in this case in schools is widespread ignorance about this deficit have most regular education teachers, who do not know how to deal with ADHD children with hyperactivity or inattention (relegating in many occasions to consider the background by nervous or inattentive).

Therefore, it is proposed in the motion requesting the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment of the Autonomous specialized training for teachers who wish to develop in this disease, for better academic performance for these children and youth.

In the framework of the European Week on Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity, Adahi Association of Molina de Segura organizes from 19 to Nov. 24 different acts in the municipality to improve understanding and awareness of society.
