Setenil Award for Best Story Book Published in Spain, organized by the Culture Council of the City of Molina de Segura, has become the main reference award in our country in the short story.
This is demonstrated by the large participation by publishers and authors from all over the country, having been presented to this 9th edition of 58 titles.
The prize is worth 10,000 euros for the winning author.
The jury is chaired by the writer Cristina Fernández Cubas, one of the leading figures of the story in Spanish, who in 2006 won the 3rd Prize Setenil with poor relatives of the devil.
He will be joined on the jury the writer and columnist Anthony Lucas, a partner of The World, and the critic and professor María José Pozuelo Yvancos, a contributor to ABC.
Jury is expected to issue its ruling in November.
The award will be presented in Molina de Segura in December 2012.
Winners of previous editions Setenil Award were: Alberto Mendez, for The Blind Sunflowers, Juan Pedro Aparicio, for life in white, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Kinship poor devil PÃ mies Sergi, for if you eat a lemon without faces, Oscar Esquivias at The Mark of Crete, Fernando Clemot for Tobacconists of Chiado, Francisco Lopez Serrano, by habits of chance, and David Roas by CDC.
The judges were chaired respectively by Juan Manuel de Prada, Luis Mateo Diez, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Ana Maria Matute, Jose Maria Merino, Javier Tomeo, Andrés Neuman and Fernando Iwasaki.
