In order to save the natural crossroads of the Northwest Greenway with the River Segura, in his section of Molina de Segura, has carried out the refurbishment of the old metal bridge rail.
The First Deputy Mayor of Molina de Segura, López Molina Worship and Councillor of Municipal Works, Vicente Fernandez Oliva, accompanied, on Friday December 2, the Delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, during his visit to the bridge, where he has installed a new wooden floor.
The bridge is integrated into the natural way through the area and whose stretch between Murcia and Mula baths has just opened to the public after the refurbishment.
Improvement work of this section have been financed by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine for a total of 1,175,281 euros.
Along the route of the various phases are executed drains, ditches and earth, concrete curbs and concrete pipes.
It has placed a wooden railing where there were slopes of varying degrees, as in middle slopes, embankments and steps on streams.
In addition, throughout the natural way, have placed information panels and signs for guidance, as well as furniture, consisting of benches, litter bins and tables, divided into six areas of enforced rest, according to the criteria of the Manual Natural Ways signaling.
In order to increase the quality of the environment by running the natural way, has also made a plantation of trees and shrubs.
This section, with a length of 29.7 km., Links with the already built section Baños de Mula / Caravaca de la Cruz of the Northeast Greenway, which has a length of 50.3 km.
The momentum of the Natural Ways favors the conservation of natural areas through environmental education, and promotes the maintenance of cultural and traditional heritage of the areas where you run, providing new functionalities and allowing abandoned infrastructure, thus , care and transmission of cultural heritage in the territories.
This project is a major bets in the region as an alternative to connect the different populations of several regions, such as the Northwest, the Vega Media and Murcia, and is a major boost to nature tourism in the area.
