Under the motto "Active person, happy person", the World Day of Physical Activity that takes place on Thursday, April 6 focuses on the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and avoiding sedentariness.
The director of the Physical Activity Service for Health at the Molina Hospital, José Manuel Martínez Real, says that "physical activity has benefits even at the psychological level, in diseases as widespread as depression or stress. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that adults accumulate 150 minutes of physical exercise per week. "
The habitual rhythm of life does not leave much space to the practice of physical activity, reason why the Service of Physical Activity for the Health of the Hospital of Molina advises that each person adapts the exercise to his own circumstances, with the objective to fight the Sedentarism that characterizes the current society.
Martínez Real recommends that you recognize your own health condition before starting to exercise, to ensure that there are no contraindications that prevent it.
It is also essential to go to a specialist because, according to the head of the Hospital Service, "anyone knows how to exercise, but not everyone knows how to properly dosage it, execute it well technically to avoid future injuries and perform appropriate exercises for ailment."
The Hospital de Molina offers training in small groups (maximum 5 people) with the aim of guaranteeing a personalized and close attention for each user, Tuesday and Thursday, at 18:00 and 19:00 h.
