| While demanding ordinances and janitors to clean up in their workplaces | The Molina de Segura City Council informed the workers' representatives that as of March 30, a total closure of the majority of the municipal facilities and schools in the town would take place due to the health crisis of COVID-19.
From that moment, the municipal services company SERCOMOSA proceeded to present an ERTE to 79 workers out of a total of 120 who were in charge of cleaning up municipal offices, schools and other public centers, while the state of alarm lasted and the situation did not improve.
Of these 79 affected by ERTE, 60 were full-time and 19 part-time. During this time, only a small part of the workforce has been carrying out their cleaning work in the facilities that remained open, with their hours reduced. The SERCOMOSA Company Committee, together with the trade union organizations UGT, CCOO and USO, denounces that municipal workers who are not responsible for cleaning tasks are carrying them out on orders from their superiors.
We refer to school custodians, ordinances, and junior staff. From the three unions denouncing this situation, it is considered that it is unheard of for the Molina de Segura City Council to have given these instructions, while maintaining a large part of the ERTE cleaning staff workforce.
This situation, known more than a week ago, has been brought to the attention of the Municipal Services Councilor of the Moline Consistory, Sandra Díez Caldero, who was asked for the appropriate explanations, and to date no response has been received.
In the absence of a response, the three union organizations and the Company Committee will present the corresponding complaints to the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate so that this situation does not recur.
In addition, they have already called a protest rally in front of the Town Hall on June 5, from 10:00 to 12:00.00 hours. The situation contrasts with that carried out by other municipalities, such as that of the Murcian capital, which has considered the cleaning staff as an Essential Service, and that during the time that municipal facilities and / or services have been closed have been dedicated to the deep cleaning, disinfection and the application of exhaustive hygiene measures to minimize and / or avoid the maximum number of possible infections. Finally, from UGT, CCOO and USO it is considered that it is a priority that the staff gradually but continuously join the work due to the de-escalation that is taking place and the opening of municipal public centers.
