The IES Eduardo Linares Lumeras of Molina de Segura has been selected to participate in the VI call for the educational project on energy and energy efficiency, an initiative of the Repsol Foundation that was born with the objective of raising awareness among future generations about the importance of conducting a responsible use of energy resources, in addition to arousing interest in science.

In total, thirty national centers have been selected that, with the help of their teachers, will develop an energy audit simulation of their educational centers, learning how, with small gestures, you can save on energy consumption bills.

The best reports can participate in the Energy Championship with awareness, exposing their proposals to be more efficient.

The two best centers will receive a cash prize amounting to 7,000 and 3,000 euros, to implement the improvements included in the audit.

It is an ambitious project that aims to raise awareness among the entire educational community, parents, students and teachers, about the importance of efficient use of energy resources to reduce, not only bills, but our carbon footprint.

For its execution, students have the support of the Department of Environment of the Molinense City Council, which has launched the XIX edition of Molina de Segura, Discover your surroundings, a program aimed at the educational centers of Molina de Segura.

This course focuses on the fight against climate change, proposing an educational offer aimed at making known the reality that we are living both locally and globally and promoting attitudes that lead the educational community to get involved in this important challenge.

A program that aims to connect the local reality and the management of our urban, natural and rural environment, with the great environmental issues, to provide teachers with an educational resource with which to incorporate environmental education in their didactic programming and in the educational project of center.

The synergies that exist between the two projects will be very useful to carry out this important task of raising awareness and sensitization to climate change, as well as enabling educational centers to undertake actions that reduce their carbon dioxide emissions.
