The municipal group of Cs in the City of Molina de Segura has presented a motion for discussion in the next plenary session, in order to develop a municipal ordinance on the use of the so-called Personal Mobility Vehicles, commonly known as electric scooters.
The orange spokeswoman at the Consistory, María Dolores García, explained that “we want the municipal technical team to issue a report on the feasibility of developing the regulations to be applied in this motion, and if it were positive, constitute a work table with all the political groups that make up the Plenary for its elaboration â€.
“The proliferation of this type of vehicles circulating on the sidewalks and roads is already a problem of coexistence and safety against pedestrians, especially in the case of abuses, which in 2018 were 273 throughout Spain with the tragic balance of five fatalities â€, García highlighted.
"We believe that an answer must be given through its regulation in our municipality, which would be complemented by the installation of road signs and the establishment of a sanctioning procedure."
Citizens will also present another initiative for discussion so that the City Council develops a plan to improve the signaling of pedestrian crossings and study the feasibility of installing smart steps in conflict points and with greater number of incidents.
