The Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, reported, last week, within the Municipal Council of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura, the extensive work developed during 2018 by this area of municipal action and stressed that the budget increase with respect to 2017, favored, among other issues, an improvement in the coverage of the needs of the most vulnerable groups in Molina de Segura.
At the meeting, the Report of the Social Services Center was presented and the work carried out by the different Work Units of the Department was exposed in detail, as well as all the actions of the different Attention Programs, among which are;
the Zone Social Work Program;
the Family and Children Program;
the Seniors and Dependency Program;
and the Social Promotion and Prevention and Social Insertion Program.
In the session of the Councilor of Social Welfare was also informed of all agreements signed and grants awarded during the year 2018, detailing their corresponding amounts.
The call also served to publicize the Sociodemographic Report of the Elderly in the municipality of Molina de Segura, carried out by the Technical Unit of the Social Service Center.
Said report records that the number of people over 65 years of age in the locality was 8,702 in 2018, which represents 12.3% of the total population of the municipality.
This fact, said Angel Navarro, is indicative of "the need to implement social policies focused exclusively on this group, increasingly numerous, to meet their needs, which is done not only from the Program for Elderly and Dependency, but also from the Senior Unit ".
