Yesterday, Saturday December 22, the Cor de Cambra d'Elx won the first prize in the XXII Coral Contest "Villancicos de Molina de Segura" in Murcia.
During the meeting the Elche choir sang as a forced Christmas carol "Alegría en el corazón" and as an optional "Follow that star", on the other hand, as polyphonic works he performed "Zefiro Torna" and "Tequila Samba".
The act was held at the Villa de Molina Theater and a total of three choirs participated.
The other two groups were the Youth Choir of Murcia that achieved the second position and prize of the public, and the City of Jaén Choir that won the third prize.
The first prize won by the Cor de Cambra d'Elx is worth 1,500 euros and a trophy.
This triumph is a great satisfaction for this choral group, as well as the prestige of winning a contest of these characteristics.
The Cor de Cambra d'Elx, was founded in 1996 and is a choral group specialized in Spanish polyphony from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, although it interprets all kinds of musical styles and authors.
It is formed by a score of singers who share their hobby, profession and concerns around vocal and choral music, in a professional and semi-professional manner.
Also, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Cor de Cambra d'Elx has recently released a CD with the most emblematic work of this choral group, the Responsorios de Tinieblas by Tomás Luis de Victoria.
Its director is Inmaculada Dolón Llor, graduated in Choral Direction and Musical Pedagogy by the Conservatory of Music of Murcia and Master in musical research from the International University of Valencia.
She is currently a professor of choral conducting at the "Oscar Esplá" Conservatory of Music in Alicante, director of the Cor de Cambra d'Elx, the Orfeó Ciutat d'Elx and the Orfeón Noveldense Solidaridad since 2003.
