Medical Research Foundation of Molina de Segura (FEM) presented at a press conference today, Friday February 5, the next conference of scientific (number 47), to be held in Molina de Segura (College auditorium Child Education Paseo Rosales) on Thursday February 11, 2010, at 19.30, with free entry, under the title The importance of biomedical research in health, led by Dr. Joan Rodés Teixidor, Chief of Hepatology the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, IDIBAPS Director and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health.
The conference is organized by the WEF, the city of Molina de Segura and the Hospital de Molina, sponsored by the Caixa.
The presentation was made by Domingo Menchón Serna, Department of Internal Medicine, Hospital de Molina, Josefina García Lozano, Secretary of the EMF.
Joan Rodés Teixidor is Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona.
Directs the Hepatology Service of Hospital Clínic i Provincial de Barcelona since August 1972 to the present, where he is also Director of Research since 1997.
That same year, became director of the Institut d'Biomedical Research August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS).
He has received numerous awards and honors: Severo Ochoa Award, awarded by the Foundation for Medical Research Ferrer (1990); Distinction for Outstanding Research in the field of Hepatology Foundation for Health Sciences (1998); Award Gregorio Marañón National Medicine; Distinction for the promotion of university research from the Generalitat de Catalunya, as a Researcher Recognized (2000), Gold Medal of the Spanish Society of Digestive Pathology (2000), or Creu de Sant Jordi, granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya (2001).
Since March 2001, chairs the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health (March 2001).
