The Government delegate to Mayor Molina delivered a Collaboration Agreement on Security (25/09/2009)

The strength of the National Police have increased over the past three years by 22 percent

The government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, has co-chaired this morning the Local Security Board Molina de Segura, near the town's mayor, Eduardo Contreras, which has analyzed the security situation in the municipality and has delivered the Agreement on Security Cooperation signed between the Ministry of Interior and the City.

González Tovar reported that during the first eight months of the year 2009 there was an increase of 17.9 percent on average in the number of people arrested for crimes and misdemeanors.

This increase has been particularly significant in arrests for crimes against persons, which increased 88.8 percent, and robbery with violence and intimidation, with a rise of 72.7 percent.

Also increased the clarification of crimes against persons by 2.8 percent and robbery with force to 4.9 percent.

The Government delegate highlighted the commendable work being carried out by the Security Forces of the State and pointed out that the staff of the National Police Commissioner Molina de Segura has increased over the past three years in a 22.3 percent, from 68 agents in 2007 to 79 in 2009.

In this regard, stressed the important and constant effort of the Government of Spain in the region to strengthen the staffing of the Security Forces of the State and thereby increase public safety in our region and each of its municipalities.

"The Government is making a big bet for safety for citizens to gain in quality of life and tranquility," he said.

The Government delegate also informed that the Ministry of Interior has allocated 58,000 euros for improvements in the Civil Guard barracks located in Molina de Segura, allowing plants to adapt to the needs that have taken place as a result of increase in staff and to provide better service to citizens.

Security Cooperation Agreement

In developing the Local Security Board, the delegate of the Government has given the mayor of Molina de Segura a Partnership on Security to strengthen collaboration between local police and the Forces of State Security.

This agreement involves joint action programs and planned, such as the exchange of police information between the Guardia Civil and Local Police of Alhama.

This will enable both bodies to consult their respective police databases in areas such as legal requisitions, missing persons, stolen vehicles and other issues of justice.

It will also enable intercommunication between rooms 062 and 092, and the joint use of offices and citizen complaints, in order to optimize human resources services common to both bodies.

Moreover, the Local Safety Board developed within six months, a Local Safety Plan setting out the existing problems at the municipal level and set targets.

Tovar González noted that "this type of agreement has been signed by some municipalities in the Region and in all of them are proving that improve service delivery, optimize resources and progress in improving public safety."
