The Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura is added to the third regional campaign Clean Up the World 2009 (24/09/2009)

The City of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Environment and its program of environmental volunteers, has joined the 3 rd Regional Campaign A l impious the World 2009, an initiative of the Volunteer Program Environmental Natural Region Murcia, the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water of the Autonomous Region of Murcia.

Molina de Segura in the activity will be the installation of a booth at the Hall P laza

Saturday 26 September, from 10.00 to 3.30 h 1 pray.

Seedlings were distributed, mostly various species of pine, such as Aleppo (Pinus halepensis) or pine (Pinus pinea), and also, to a lesser extent, palm (Chamaerops humilis), carob (Ceratonia siliqua), arbutus ( Arbutus unedo) and Kermes oak (Quercus coccifera), all native species from forest nurseries of the Autonomous Region for later planting.

Each plant will be accompanied by a brief manual for proper planting.

The purpose of this activity is to educate citizens about the importance of enhancing and preserving the forest's natural spaces and green areas as a way to combat climate change.

Clean Up the World is an international campaign that since 1993, has achieved more than 40 million people worldwide are involved each year to make their environment a cleaner and healthier.

This campaign, sponsored by the United Nations Program for Environment (UNEP), encourages local efforts as key to improvements in long-term environment, and promote joint action by companies, associations, communities, governments and individuals ( www.cleanuptheworld.org ).

This year, the campaign features the slogan communities unite to combat climate change globally will be held the weekend of 26 and 27 September.

This action joins Hall molinense also to the international effort sponsored by the United Nations Program for Environment (UNEP), under the slogan PLANT FOR THE PLANET, the campaign of one billion trees: http://www . unep.org /

This action is performed through the collaboration of environmental volunteers assist in the installation and collection of stand and attend to citizens by providing information and distributing plants.

The volunteers subsequently received accreditation and recognition by a certificate of participation.
