To celebrate today, 8 September, the Day of Cooperating Socialist Municipal Group claims that the city of Molina de Segura has renounced the goal of achieving 0.7% to promote international cooperation and development between societies less developed.

The figures do not lie: the City has spent several years in a row down the municipal official development assistance and growing municipal budget spends less than the cause.

In 2009, the forecast stands at 0.19% of the municipal budget, the lowest in the last six years, while in 2004 was 0.25% and 0.23% in 2008, still very away from the path of 0.7% of the municipal budget.

While the Government of Spain jointly making efforts and progress towards the target of 0.7% (it is at around 0.5%), the municipality of Molina is the negative side of the coin and the worst example, against path taken by many autonomous regions and municipalities of Spain.

The 2009 budget slogan more than 171,000 euros to aid cooperation and solidarity, far below the 0.7% (which would mean about 617,000 euros allocated to fight poverty, lack of development, democracy, freedom, democracy favor of higher education, etc.)..

The Socialist Party believes that the company is fully supportive Molina and demand for the City Council's commitment to devote 0.7% of the municipal budget for official development assistance, to create a council of cooperation (which is denying and blocking repeatedly) and not lower our guard in the fight against poverty, underdevelopment, lack of access to education and respect for human rights in societies that remain battered by authoritarianism, lack of expectations and a unacceptable living conditions, they demand and deserve all the collective efforts of States, Municipalities and Communities Spanish.
