The Molina de Segura CIFE receives EMAS quality certification and health and safety OHSAS 18,001 (15/07/2009)

Integrated Training Center and Agricultural Experiences (CIFE), Molina de Segura today received quality certification EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Echem) and health and safety OHSAS 18,001, in a ceremony presided by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Antonio Cerda.

The EMAS is a system-management and environmental audit was initiated in 1995 for organizations on a voluntary basis, wish to evaluate and improve their performance in this area.

For its part, the System Management OHSA Occupational Health and Safety 18001 is a tool that helps organizations where it is implemented to identify, evaluate, administer and manage health risks and work as part of normal practice of their business, understanding that risk management rather than an expense is an investment.

Cerda said: "The CIFE of Molina de Segura in 2004 began implementing management systems based on internationally recognized standards, with the aim of establishing a public commitment to continually improve the services the center offers."

Thus, in 2006 this CIFE was certified in quality management standards and environmental UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2000 and UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2004.

In this regard, the Minister stressed that "there is neither in Spain nor in Europe, no other food vocational school who holds four certifications that has already obtained the CIFE of Molina de Segura."

Such circumstances, it concluded Cerdá, "as well as being unique and motivating for the Center, expressed the commitment of the people and their employees to achieve the highest possible level of quality, efficacy and safety in the work done and the service offers the agricultural sector and food industry. "

Advantages

The implementation of environmental management systems in place promotes the professional recognition of students in vocational courses and Environmental Chemistry Food Industry and Agro-Environmental Area subprogramme Training for Employment, whose activity is developed in close collaboration with the Ministry Education, Training and Employment and professional agricultural organizations and cooperatives in the region.

Improvements in waste management, energy efficiency and resource consumption contribute to a reduction of 30'5 per cent of water consumption per participant, a 4'2 energy consumption and fuel 49'24, while managing significantly improved waste properly.

The implementation of OHSAS 18,001 in the CIFE has meant reduced to zero accidents and incidents involving their employees and students since its implementation and execution of several actions and measures for improvement and adaptation of facilities to reduce occupational risks .

The rules implemented as a whole also favor the screening and recognition regionally, nationally and internationally in this Center.

The rest of integrated centers (CIFE), which manages the Department, located in Jumilla, Lorca and Torre Pacheco are in the process of certification of these same standards, because, said the counselor, "respond to the same standards of commitment to program regional food sector. "

It is expected that the certification process to be completed before year end.
