The Municipal Socialist Group has denounced the appalling conditions in which they are developing the Municipal Summer School in some centers.
This municipal service, jointly funded by the families of the students (70 euros for children attending in July and 120 euros for those attending the months of July and August), began last week with numerous incidents.
Although some of them have been solved, the Social Welfare Department is not able to provide solutions to other serious problems such as lack of air conditioning in some facilities such as public schools "Sacred Heart" and "Romeral."
The Socialist Party said it was unfortunate that the City offers a service during July and August for children aged 4-12 years and that the facilities do not meet the right conditions.
Faced with numerous complaints from parents, the council of the Socialist Group visited these facilities and found that indeed the conditions under which activities are being developed in schools mentioned do not meet minimum quality criteria.
In fact, in one center, two groups of children ages 4 and 5 share the same room, divided it by moving panels to screen mode.
The living room has no air conditioning and temperature as both the excessive noise generated by more than 40 children makes it impossible the proper functioning of the activities.
Socialist councilors not explained how the City Council allow these appalling conditions are given when known to other classrooms in the same schools it does have air conditioning.
This is another example of the lack of foresight and mismanagement of the City Council and that these problems are repeated year after year
The PSOE requires an urgent solution to this problem, because the air conditioning facilities that will be used by children for many hours during the summer months is not a luxury but a necessity.
