Team educational psychologists Molina de Segura magazine presents Learning to be parents (12/12/2008)

The presentation of the journal Learning to be parents, including within the Educational Innovation Project New Perspectives in the formation of Parents, sponsored by Team educational psychologists (EOEP) Molina de Segura, took place today Friday 12 December, in the Meeting Room of City Hall.

Attended by the local mayor, Eduardo Contreras Linares, Councillor of Education, Mariola Martinez Robles, Director of the Center for Language and Communication of Molina de Segura, Juan Garcia Hernandez, the Director of EOEP de Molina de Segura, María del Mar Fair and representatives from the municipalities of Alguazas, Abanilla, Fortuna, Lorqui Ceuta and Las Torres de Cotillas.

Educational Innovation Project New Perspectives in the formation of Parents involved in training parents as a tool for improving educational quality.

"The process of change we are living, as well as emerging educational problems (school violence, racism, high rates of school failure, motivation, etc.) make clear that the educational response to them is not up to school and needs, today More than ever, a broad community action and especially the cooperation of the family, "explains the director of EOEP de Molina de Segura, María del Mar Fair.

A team of educational psychologists in Molina de Segura's functions include parent training.

In relation to this role, it was proposed Education Innovation Project to pick up new perspectives in the formation of Parents.

The innovative project aims to: introduce ICTs in the training of parents, to develop new forms of intervention with families from the field of education, collaborate in promoting smooth relations between the school and families to improve the educational process students, contributing to improving the involvement of parents in educating their children and provide educational strategies aimed at families in general and on specific issues.

The innovative aspect is focused on addressing the training of parents from three areas of intervention:

A. WORKSHOP: GROUP OF FAMILY SUPPORT.

The organization of groups of family support will work in small groups with parents of children with similar problems.

Working with these groups will be centralized at the headquarters of EOEP and families will be referred by the counselor for each school, a proposal for teachers.

Initially four points of support groups as the main problem of the student or the family context: behavioral problems, attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity, learning difficulties, and communication (families in crisis: separation or divorce, loss a family member, etc.)..

B. PARENT EDUCATION THROUGH DIGITAL TELEVISION:

Television, from his privileged position as a channel of communication that reaches all people, can be a useful tool for educating parents.

The difficulties of low participation of families in the Parent School organized in schools, such training arises education to parents through the Internet and digital television.

The EOEP is proposing two television channels the development of several parent training programs, in which practitioners would carry out the advisory team teaching and the TV company developed the technique.

The programs would be issued throughout the school year.

The contents of these feature programs could include: parenting styles (rules and limits, styles, etc.). The communication (parents / children, and stimulating the development of language), how to improve children's behavior, habits personal autonomy (eating, sleeping, toilet, etc.) Leisure and Recreation, Emotional Intelligence (self-esteem, social skills, etc.) strategies for conflict resolution, education, emotional / sexual, and how to help children in the study.

C. MAGAZINE FOR PARENTS: Parents Learning to be

The aim of the journal is to disseminate basic educational guidelines parents (educational styles, standards and limits, how to help children in the study, leisure, emotional intelligence, etc.)..

Guidance Team has prepared the content of the magazine, with the collaboration of parents, students and teachers, and has coordinated the editing.

The contents are topics of interest to the education of children.

The first issue deals with parenting styles.

The contents are structured as follows:

The teachers say.

Sheet for parents with educational guidelines.

Side Notes: bibliographic information, latest news, etc.

It is intended that the journal reaches all parents of the municipalities in the sector of activity: Abanilla, Alguazas, Ceuta, Fortuna, Lorquí, Molina de Segura and Las Torres de Cotillas.

The timing of it, for this course will be quarterly.

The first number will be given to parents along with the report card the first quarter.

The number of pages in the magazine is six, with a triptych format.
