The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, and Councilman Hall Pedanías Molina de Segura, Daniel Soltero, today visited the roundabout access to the Alcayna in the A-5, which the Ministry of Public Works and Planning Territory has done in this section to improve road safety in the urbanization of the municipality of Molina de Segura.

With the construction of the roundabout has been removed from dangerous situations caused by the high volume of traffic on this road that was a junction in a 'T'.

Roundabouts represent 1.2 percent of accidents on our roads compared to 16.4 intersections 'T', which are more dangerous because of the difficulty of access they pose to drivers.

Regulations have been designed to access the various residential areas and is currently improving access to Private Rabbits II and La Quinta.

These actions included in the Protocol of Cooperation signed last July between the city of Molina de Segura and the Ministry of Public Works and Planning.

This new roundabout has an inner diameter of 24 meters outside of 50, two lanes of 5.50 meters and shoulders inside and outside of 1 meter.

Its central area is covered with a stamped concrete pavement on which are mounted a central column of 12 feet with 8 400-watt floodlights, improving lighting, increasing visibility at night.

In addition, signage throughout the area affected by the works has been completely renovated with reflectance level signals II, electronic signs and posters, which ensures complete visibility of the margins of this roundabout and surrounding areas.

According to the Director General of Highways, Jose Guijarro, thus the Ministry "meets the rail crossing with a rotary intersection, which is one of the most widely used instruments to increase traffic safety parameters in response to road safety."

To Guijarro, construction of this new round, "greatly increases the safety at this intersection, as is happening in other parts of the road network in the Region of Murcia, where the regional government is improving road conditions and lighting to reduce accidents. "

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning develops the infrastructure investment program to improve road safety.

This, together with others such as action on the accident concentration sections, and investment in upkeep and maintenance, among others, "makes Murcia one of the regions that are most committed to road safety and maintaining a network of roads and over 3,000 miles. "
