The regional government through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, has declared a cultural monument with the rank of the Wheel of Don Carlos Soriano, located in the hamlet of El Llano de Molina de Segura, a few hundred meters village, in the middle of orchard and on the bed of the canal Subirana, which takes the waters.

The wheel, built in the late nineteenth century, can be defined typologically as 'wheel power', like so many that punctuated the Vega Media del Segura, where you can highlight common structural elements in this type of water infrastructure.

Thus, the hydraulic system began in the weir or dam the river flow that comes through the canal Subirana, which moves the water at the bottom of the wheel and using a high flow water supply is transferred to the garden of El Llano.

At the time of its construction the structure must be wood, material that following the general rule of other wells in the valley along the twentieth century had to be replaced by an iron structure and was active until a few years ago.

In 1875 the landowner sells his property Joaquín Portillo of El Llano and El Saladar Carlos Soriano, including the Ferris wheel in the wood lot, probably built by the same Portillo in 1868.

Years later, in 1887, to benefit from tax exemption that they were under the olive and mulberry, Carlos Soriano founded an agricultural colony on this farm, forcing him under the Act of colonies, to build housing for settlers as well as a church or chapel for religious services, school for the children of settlers and a community store.

So now the wheel is located near the former home of Carlos Soriano and now houses the Ethnographic Museum in Molina de Segura, and a chapel, which has been restored and expanded, both buildings at the start of last decade of the nineteenth century.

The area where they found the house, the Hermitage and the wheel is one of the most beautiful places in the Vega Media del Segura, overlooking the garden areas and the river, constituting a privileged place.
