Culture carries the "Routes" project in Molina de Segura with an exhibition of eighty drawings of Jose Maria Parraga (09/02/2016)

The Ministry of Culture and Press Service and the City of Molina de Segura have organized the exhibition of works by José María Párraga 'Notes on an infinite figure', which may watch about 80 drawings of Cartagena artist during the next two months.

The exhibition will be in the exhibition hall 'The Garden' of the town.

The exhibition is part of the 'Routes.

This smaller sample has already been seen in other municipalities over the last few months, because "since the 'Routes' project was announced more than a year ago, the response from the municipalities in the region has been very good, organized a total of 16 exhibitions of contemporary art of prominent national and international artists, which have enjoyed about 24,000 people, "he explained the director of the ICA.

In this term, López-Briones added, "the commitment of the Ministry of Culture is to continue to bring contemporary art and the performing arts to the municipalities through different initiatives and projects, thereby contributing to the expansion of the different programs cultural ".

In 'Notes on an infinite figure', visitors can admire about 80 drawings Parraga through which can be seen clearly concern about the human figure nudes, popular scenes, characters that are hidden, monsters, mythological scenes, etc.

These works all made from the decade of the 60s and 90s of last century by the artist from Cartagena.

The exhibition will be displayed in the exhibition hall 'The Garden' of Molina Segura until 9 April from Tuesday to Saturday from 17:30 to 20:00 hours on Thursday and Friday morning, 11: 30 to 13:00.

José María Párraga (Alumbres, Cartagena, 1937 Murcia, 1997) began to study Teaching in 1951, combining it with the classes in the School of Arts and Crafts in Murcia, where he studied with teachers like Jose Maria Almela Costa, Luis Garay, Clemente Cantos and Mariano Ballester.

He lived in Madrid and then traveled to the Netherlands and France, where he made contact with the work of the Post-Impressionists.

In 1955, he began working as a teacher profession abandoned for lack of vocation and the following year made his first solo exhibition.

In 1964, he co-founded the group with Joining painters Manuel Avellaneda and Aurelio Perez Martinez and sculptors Elisa Séiquer, Francisco Toledo Sánchez, José Hernández Toledo Sanchez and Jose Cano, promoting renewal in Murcia art scene.

Throughout his long career, Parraga used techniques such as drawing, pyrography and even illustrations press.

His early works are figurative, but already showed some deformation or stretching.

Since 1959, he experimented with collage and next to the graphic arts techniques and, around 1968, reveals the influence of Picasso and Klee.

In the eighties, an emotional crisis was reflected in the broken lines of his work, but in the next decade, 90, lived again a more balanced stage again and regained their characteristic curved, sinuous paths, also incorporating color .
