Culture allocated 100,000 euros in the budget to finalize the Cultural Enclave of the Wall of Molina de Segura Resort (30/11/2015)

The Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson has included in its budget for next year a consignment of 100,000 euros to complete the recovery Enclave Cultural Complex of the Wall of Molina de Segura.

This new cultural center will open in early 2016 with a length of 125 meters from the main attraction Islamic wall, declared of Cultural Interest (BIC).

The Minister Noelia Arroyo visited today, with the mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras, Molina de Segura and had the opportunity to see the works of this new museum space that is complemented by the Municipal Historical Archive, next to it and for which the Ministry of Culture has provided more than 6.2 million since 2006. In 2018, the final amount would rise to 6.8 million.

Noelia Arroyo said that "it is a duty of government to ensure the conservation of our heritage for citizens to enjoy and learn more about the history and rich heritage we have received from the people who inhabited the region. The case of the wall Molina de Segura is also a perfect example, as it has united in a single project heritage protection and the creation of a new exhibition and cultural space, and other premises for historical research. "

The medieval remains were discovered when it was going to build a housing development.

It is an Islamic wall in the north of Molina de Segura located in the basement of an old factory of canned vegetables.

125 meters of wall-six towers, one of nine sides which is the only known example of the peninsula were recovered.

Of particular relevance it is also a door in elbow and maintenance trench.

Given the importance and the condition of the walled complex, the Community and the City agreed to retrieve and convert the archaeological museum with a project to preserve the wall and create an interpretive center.

There will also be new public spaces such as an auditorium, and others that will be used for historical research and that the new center will complement the work done since the Municipal Archives and one of the objectives is the implementation of cultural projects .

The museum project intended audience visiting these medieval remains around different themes that allow citizens closer to the origin of the city Hisn Mulina, learn about the techniques, materials and construction of the wall, knowing how her discovery and the excavation and recovery, Molina relationship with King Alfonso X the Wise and other aspects of the Islamic world.
