The City of Molina de Segura has chosen the first week of June (from 2 to 7 June) to celebrate the World Environment Day, and does so with the programming of various activities related to the LIFE 09 / NAT / project ES / 00516 for the conservation of the white-headed duck in the Region of Murcia.
This is a European project funded by the European Commission which is the enhancement and conservation of the white-headed duck (Oxyura leucocephala), an aquatic bird threatened with extinction worldwide, inhabiting the wetland of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar .
The World Environment Day is commemorated on 5 June, was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 coinciding with the first global summit on the environment: the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.
The purposes of this event are to increase environmental awareness and encourage global action to protect the environment.
The activities this week are:
From 2 to June 5, schools, associations and other entities may wish to book a guided tour of the exhibition on Biodiversity of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar, which will be installed in the Exhibition Hall Jail (in Street Cervantes, n # 5) in Molina de Segura.
