The City of Molina de Segura commemorates World Tree Day 2015 with the launch of the project SPONSOR A GARDEN (24/03/2015)

On the occasion of the celebration of the World Tree Day 2015, the City of Molina de Segura has launched the project SPONSOR A GARDEN, targeting schools in the locality.

The departments of Environment and Urban Services such centers have been proposed to be accountable and to participate in the preservation, care and respect of a garden environment.

As explained by the Councillor for Environment, Juana Carrillo Muñoz, "participation in this project will allow students to know in detail the environment that are closest, and environmental functions of green areas, becoming aware of the need to participate in the environmental improvement of their neighborhood and their city. "

For his part, Councillor for Urban Services, José Tomás García, highlights of this project "promoting coexistence and respect for public spaces, common heritage of all citizens, and the involvement of the educational community in the work of awareness to the rest of the population for a change of habits that ensure the maintenance, cleaning and respect for public spaces. "

In this first pilot project involved SPONSOR A GARDEN three centers: CEIP Tierno Galván, CEIP CEIP El Romeral and San Miguel.

The participation of these centers of their own initiative and proposal to the Department of Environment of planting activities within different environmental projects.

In the first phase, the centers participating in the garden improvements planned by the City Council;

subsequently will be addressing other improvements that arise after the development of environmental education activities collecting project consisting of previous activities of assessment of the situation of the garden, concrete actions in the garden, monitoring, and advocacy and awareness to the educational community and the neighborhood.

The actions planned for the implementation of the project are conducting plantations of native plant species in the three gardens, with the following schedule:

Tuesday, March 24, at 09:30 pm in the Park Enrique Vidal Riquelme, planting activity with students from CEIP Tierno Galván.

Participating students from 3rd and 4th Primary.

Wednesday, March 25, at 09:30 pm in the Park Preserve, planting activity with students from CEIP El Romeral.

Participating students from kindergarten and 1st and 2nd Primary.

Thursday, March 26, at 09:30 pm in the Garden Street Granados, planting activity with students from CEIP San Miguel.

Participating students from 5th and 6th Primary.

Each garden will be identified with a sign with the name of the center that sponsors.

This is recognition of the participating centers and also a sign of its commitment to the garden.

The Department of Urban Services, through the company Sercomosa, dealership service maintenance of parks and gardens of the town, worked on different design of these gardens and preparation of planting activities.

In the Garden Street Granados is the construction of two large planters and installation of tables and benches to create a recreational area in a garden area.

The Project Sponsor a garden on the idea that participation is an essential tool in the management of naturalized urban spaces and that, to the extent that involve the population, greater appreciation, awareness and accountability will be achieved in the good use and conservation of these spaces.

It is also important to develop an educational and participatory action coordinated between different municipal services, thus ensuring the adequacy of the actions that are developed and their use and continuity is ensured.

These activities are developed thanks to the donation of the plant by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the Directorate General Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water.

And also thanks to the collaboration of the company SERCOMOSA.

Finally, also celebrate the World Tree Day 2015, another planting activity develops:

Wednesday, March 25, at 09:30 pm in El Soto de la Hijuela, next to the River Segura, students from 3rd to 6th of CEIP El Romeral planted riparian vegetation own species.

This activity helps the Department of Environment and DG Environment.
