Ecoembes and the City of Molina de Segura are launching a new campaign to raise awareness about recycling (23/03/2015)

The City of Molina de Segura and Ecoembes, the organization that cares for the environment through recycling and eco-design of household packaging in Spain, have launched an awareness campaign in Molina recycle well, recycle better, with the aim of transmitting citizens the importance of collaboration in packaging recycling and environmental care.

The initiative was presented Monday 23 DeMarzo, in mupi (marquee advertising) located in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (on the corner of Calle Mayor and Jesuit Hernández Pérez).

Attended by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, Councillor for Environment, Juana Carrillo Muñoz, and Marketing Manager ECOEMBES in Murcia, Silvia Rodríguez-Miranda.

This campaign, which begins today, will be present until April 30 in the local media with the intention to show the neighbors of Molina de Segura that their role is key in recycling containers and construction of a future sustainable.

Furthermore, this objective will be implemented various actions, such as sharing of information materials, a video competition and awareness activities in homes, among others.

"With as simple as removing the containers and place them in the appropriate container gesture, we contribute greatly to environmental care Citizens of Molina de Segura are very involved with recycling containers but we want more and do it better;. Hence the importance of launching awareness initiatives like this ", said Silvia Rodríguez-Miranda.

For his part, Councillor for Environment, Juana Carrillo, has "grateful, first, to Ecoembes, the development of this campaign in our town, and all the citizens of the town's commitment coming demonstrating the collection selective and environmentally, and encourage them to participate in the activities planned in this campaign. In this campaign we have the cooperation of SERCOMOSA, concessionaire of Service Solid Waste Collection Molina de Segura ".

The latest data show that ECOEMBES compared to the regional average, molinenses are more committed to the recycling of household packaging, as during 2013 each deposited 12.5 kilos of light packaging (plastic, metal and cartons ) in the yellow container (four points above the average Murcia) and 9.6 kilos of cartons and paper in the blue container.

All this, thanks to the 1,028 yellow and blue containers are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year throughout the town.

And the recycling of packaging involves multiple environmental benefits, such as avoiding the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, save water, energy and raw materials.

About ECOEMBES

Ecoembes (www.ecoembes.com) is the nonprofit organization that manages the recovery and recycling of plastic containers, cans and cartons (yellow container) and cartons and paper (blue container) throughout Spain.

In 2013, nearly a 1.2 million tonnes of light packaging and cartons and paper were recycled across the country, reaching a recycling rate of 71.9%.
