Manifesto 8 March 2013, International Women's Day

Celebrated on March 8, Day of the United Nations Women's Rights and International Peace, under the sign of hope, the hope that despite the challenging times we are living or perhaps precisely why they are becoming more people who firmly believe in equal rights for men and women.

As stated last year Michelle Bachelet on the occasion of that event "Change is possible and is happening. Change occurs when all countries for the first time in history have women on their Olympic teams, as we could see the last summer in London. Change occurs when people from around the world show their solidarity with a Pakistani girl named Malala was attacked for advocating education for everyone. Switching occurs when worldwide protests arise and we see women and men young and old, raising his voice and saying no to violence against women. "

With the full knowledge that the change is happening now more than ever when we reaffirm the defense of equal treatment and opportunities for women and men, and remain committed to fight against all forms of discrimination in order to achieve real equality between the sexes for the benefit of the whole society.

We can not allow that women represent more than half of the population living in disadvantage.

There are formulas that encourage social participation of women in all areas, especially through education, employment and entrepreneurship, for further progress towards a more just society and to work for equality.

Thus, from the Government of the Region of Murcia express our commitment to work and support all many initiatives to ensure equal access, retention and working conditions of women in the labor market, and, of course, which are intended still correct wage gap between men and women.

We want to make a special mention this year declared by the UN as the International Year of Family Farming, which aims to increase the visibility of family farming and small-scale farming and focuses its important role in the struggle for the eradication of hunger and poverty.

Murcia has a large rural area, rural women from our region have played a key role in agricultural development and commitment to modernizing the country.

It is necessary to promote and make visible the work of rural women and should be a priority since aid institutions and provide necessary inputs that lead to employment and sustainable development.

Among all, through years of shared work, have promoted major changes in the economic, educational, cultural, political and labor fields.

But there are still some important to meet the demands and interests of all women in our region of Spain challenges, and anywhere in the world, now synchronize their voices to show their strength and express their willingness to pursue the path towards the full equality.

Finally we want to maintain the moral and institutional commitment to women and break down all barriers that impede their freedom of choice and decision and their personal and social development, policy making where women and men commit together to build a better society, co-responsible without violence.

A democratic society enforces the rights regardless of race, gender or ideology.

Today we are privileged to make visible women who have made it possible through their efforts that Murcia is better, and all who remained anonymous thank them and congratulate them for their contribution to society.
