The City of Molina de Segura hosts the ceremony of Setenil X Prize 2013 for Best Story Book Published in Spain (10/12/2013)

The ceremony for the X Setenil Award 2013 for Best Story Book Published in Spain, organized by the Municipality of Molina de Segura, took place on Tuesday 10 December, in the Plenary Hall of the City Council, with the assistance of the Mayor locality, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Pedro Alberto Cruz, the winner of X Setenil Award, Ignacio Ferrando, Councillor for Culture, Mariola Martínez Robles, the Jury President, Juan Manuel Prada, the President of the Medical Research Foundation of Molina de Segura (FEM), José Antonio Lozano Teruel.

They have also attended several previous winners of the prize, as Juan Pedro Aparicio, Cristina Fernández Cubas and Oscar Esquivias.

To mark the tenth anniversary of the prize, have read two separate messages the widow and children of Alberto Mendez, winner of the 1st edition with The Blind Sunflowers and died a few days after picking up the prize.

The winner of this year was Ignacio Ferrando, who has won the award for his work The skin of strangers, edited by Menoscuarto (Palencia), among the 62 submitted by publishers in Spain.

Prior to the award ceremony character, took place the discovery of a plaque commemorating the winner Setenil Award ceremony which was attended by the Mayor, the Minister of Culture and Tourism and the award-winning writer.

The plate was placed on a bench in the promenade area and contains a commemorative award and a text excerpt of the winning entry and a drawing by the painter Juan Espallardo.

The Setenil Award, organized by the Culture Department of the City of Molina de Segura, is a national contest that rewards range story books already published, and whose ultimate goal is to highlight this genre in our country.

It is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Previous editions have obtained Alberto Mendez, by The Blind Sunflowers Juan Pedro Aparicio for Life in White, Cristina Fernández Cubas, by poor Relatives of the devil, Sergi Pàmies by If you eat a lemon without grimacing, Oscar Esquivias by The Mark of Crete, Fernando Clemot for Tobacco Chiado, Francisco López Serrano, by habits of chance, David Roas, by CDC, and Clara Obliged for the wrong book travel.

The award-winning writer, Ignacio Ferrando (Trubia, Asturias, 1972) is a writer and engineer and a professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the School of Writers.

In 2011 he received the Critical Eye Award and the City of Iran Prize for his novel A centimeter sea.

As a cultivator of the short story has won the International Prize Juan Rulfo, Mario Vargas Llosa NH and Golden Piggy Bank, among others.

Some of his stories have been translated into English and German.

After Ceremonies Interior (2006) and Sicily, Winter (2009), The skin of strangers is his third book of stories.

The skin of the strange, meticulous prose and metaphorical high voltage, notable for its evocative power and the fascination of the reader.

The winning book receives eleven stories of an author interested in the story and the psychological problem of identity, whom critics have pointed out as one of the most important voices of contemporary tale in Castilian.

The City of Molina de Segura has awarded this year's Recognition Setenil Cultural Outreach to Medical Research Foundation (FEM) of Molina de Segura, for his work in popularizing science and technology, particularly in the fields of medicine and biology, award has also been given in the act.

The Department of Culture established in 2009 Setenil Recognition of Cultural Outreach in order to distinguish those persons, groups or institutions that, over the years, have conducted activities to promote culture in the municipality in any facets.

In the four previous editions has fallen on the bookseller Justina Jiménez Salcedo on the entrepreneur and art gallery Juan Vicente Davalos on the physics professor and organizer of the La Tertulia's Thursday, Francisco Javier Abellan, and the Polyphonic Choir Hims Mola.

In this fifth edition, the Recognition of Cultural Dissemination Setenil has been given to the Medical Research Foundation of Molina de Segura.

The creation of the EMF was an idea developed by several people, including economist Juan de Dios García Martínez and Professor of Pharmacology at the Autonomous University of Madrid Antonio García García.

With the support of the Hospital de Molina, various entrepreneurs and the City Council through its Mayor, Eduardo Contreras Linares, was formed in 2001.

Since then, MSF has organized more than a hundred lectures to spread in some cases given by figures of great international significance as the Nobel Prize in Medicine or astrophysicist Edwin Neher Rafael Rebolo.

Other activities are to organize summer schools, outreach and biomedical courses summer internship with students and researchers from the University of Murcia and foreign universities.

The informative work of the Foundation, which publishes a news magazine, has not stood in science and also covers areas such as art and literature.

Currently, the Foundation is chaired by José Antonio Lozano Teruel, Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Murcia.
