This study is for children under 12 years with severe food allergies and their families in eight Spanish cities (Madrid, Valencia, A Coruña, Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga, Granada and Molina de Segura) during the months of October, November and December.

The main novelty of this project is that patients participate from the outset in the design of the study and work in its development with doctors, nurses, researchers, psychologists, educators, chefs and other professionals in the team.

Participants A total of 360 in all of Spain, receive information and training about their disease through games and activities around stories and materials designed for the project and structured into four work packages.

In addition, another group of children will continue the program on line from home, with the same contents as the workshops, using audiovisual resources with games, activities and explanatory videos for each module.

The CESA project aims to inform and train in self-care skills, both children with food allergies, and their parents, so they know allergic reactions, avoid intake of foods that cause them, change their eating routines, learn to correctly read the labeling and identify the ingredients and, in case of accidental ingestion reaction, how to recognize the symptoms early and begin treatment.

The study is based on the new model of Health 2.0, which incorporates the Information Technology and Communication (ICT) in the health care and improved quality of life for patients.

The food allergy is a very common disease in childhood affecting about 7% of children.

It is estimated that approximately one in 25 children suffers from stage school, being the most common cause of anaphylaxis in this age group.

However, most schools are not prepared to deal with the risks associated with this pathology.

The project CESA food allergic reactions is supported by the Spanish Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SEAIC), the Spanish Society of Clinical Immunology, Pediatric Allergy and Asthma (SEICAP) and the Spanish Association of Pediatrics.
