550 people participated in the tasting course Murcian cheese with protected designation of origin made in women's centers Molina (09/05/2012)

The closing ceremony of the course of Murcian cheese tastings with protected designation of origin takes place TODAY Wednesday 9 May at 19.00 pm in the auditorium of the College of Education Child Paseo Rosales Molina de Segura.

Attended by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, President of the Control Board and Director General of Livestock and Fisheries in the Region of Murcia, Adolfo Prieto Falagán, and the Councillor for Equality and Citizenship, Reme Lopez Paredes.

From October 2011 until spring 2012, 550 people from the centers of the Women of Molina de Segura have had occasion to know the characteristics of Murcia Cheese with PDO, thanks to the outreach program of the process preparation and tastings Murcian goat cheese, all 23 local social centers, which have also joined, occasionally, some neighborhood associations.

From the Control Board, its President, Adolfo Falagán, notes that "this series of tastings in Molina de Segura is a labor of continuity after the campaigns over the past three years in the municipalities of Murcia, Cartagena and Jumilla" .

At this time we made a total of 118 tastings, with the participation of over 3,500 housewives interested in receiving practical training in the art of cheese tasting and learn in detail the characteristics of the Murcian goat cheese covered by the designations of Origin Queso de Murcia Curado and Fresco and Queso de Murcia al Vino.

Technical expertise of the panel of tasters of the Regulatory Council of Murcia Cheese has been in charge of developing these tastings, and the explanation concerning its development and history.

The activity consisted of a multimedia presentation in which participants were offered a theoretical knowledge in preparation for the tasting (basics of cheese, cheese history of Murcia and sensory analysis of cheese).

Finally, there has been a guided tasting of three cheeses (Queso de Murcia al Vino Cheese, Queso Fresco and Murcia Murcia Curado), in each case describing attributes of these cheeses, such as smell, texture and flavors among others.
