A tasting crumbs opens the 37th anniversary of the Social Centre for the Elderly in Molina de Segura (03/05/2011)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, accompanied this afternoon to members of the Senior Community Center of Molina de Segura, who, with a tasting of crumbs, celebrated the anniversary of the institution XXXVII.

Also present, and tasted this dish, the managing director of the Institute of Social Action Murciano, Isabel Sola, the director general of Pensions, Assessment and Inclusion Programs, John Brown, and Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras.

This activity is part of a busy program of activities organized on the occasion of this anniversary, which begins today and lasts until the end of the month.

The tasting crumb, developed Pensioner Square, near downtown, has already become a traditional activity that is repeated annually due to the great success that has among the partners and, in general, molinense population.

This is an open day for anyone who wants to know the place and, in turn, becomes an intergenerational activity, because users often bring their grandchildren to see how this dish is prepared so typical of the region .

Moreover, this activity helps to maintain and pass the customs and popular culture.

Specifically, we have prepared 10 pots of flakes, for which they have spent approximately 20 kilos of flour, along with other complementary products derived from pork, and sausage, ribs, bacon and lean.

About 50 people participated in the development of the crumbs, that after they have consumed about 350.

Also, to commemorate the establishment of the center, are scheduled other activities such as dances, bingo, championship clubs, theater, sports, visit the Sanctuary of the Fuensanta, cultural trip to Orihuela and an offering of flowers to Our Lady of Consolation de Molina.

The senior center opened in May 1974, currently has about 9,500 members, which provide, among other amenities, a cafeteria and dining room, hairdressing, chiropody, library and press, and processing and orientation day stays.

The latter service, operated by Messengers of Peace, was launched in September 1998 with a capacity of 20 seats currently held by 17 users.
