The course, Nutrition and Food Handling for Immigrants, organized by the Ayuntamiento de Molina de Segura, funded by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration and the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Migration in the Region of Murcia, and conducted by the University Católica de Murcia (UCAM), has been presented at a press conference Thursday March 10.
The presentation was attended by the First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Social Welfare, Worship Molina Lopez, and Professor and Researcher, Department of Food Technology and Nutrition, UCAM, Dr. Juana Maria Ruiz Morillas.
The activity is free and consists of 8 sessions grouped in 4 days (5, 6, 7 and 8 April 2011), which will be held at 09:15 hours to 14:00 pm in the Centro Integral Ceramics (at Avenida de Madrid , No. 68).
The course is designed for non-Spanish adults with valid residence card, and high level of written and spoken Castilian.
Pre-registration / application is 14 to 28 March, Comprehensive Center Ceramics.
The admission list will be published on Thursday 31 March.
The teachers of course belongs to the Department of Food Technology and Nutrition, UCAM (nutritionists, food technologists, veterinarians, and pharmacists) and the project is directed by Dr. Joan M ª Ruiz Morillas.
The general content of the course is summarized as follows:
Food groups.
Nutritional composition of food.
Distribution of food in the diet.
Food processing.
Storage and handling of food.
Students who pass the examination to be held on the last day of the course and meet minimum attendance (seven sessions), give the food handler certificate, in the catering sector.
Those who do not pass the exam and meet the minimum attendance, will receive a certificate of attendance.
