Alleged fraud in the review of butane gas facilities (15/03/2011)

The Municipal Office of Consumer Information (OMIC) of the City of Molina de Segura has received five complaints in recent weeks for alleged fraud in a company review of butane gas which develops its work through fake inspectors, according to Councilwoman Consumer, Estrella Perez Zafra.

This alleged fraud is largely in the form of access to the residence by false inspectors.

The process is usually one of the following: through a lie, that is posing as another company inspectors butane (in these reports is Repsol), with imitation clothing and even anagrams or drawings of the undertaking, or by showing intimidating (after knocking on the door of the house and present a false identification, rubber tubes carrying gas is introduced into the home, without asking too much, and even opposed by the consumer).

Consumer Councillor explains, "about this way of breaking into the home, the impression is misleading, implying that they are control, and log in as if the consumer had no right to stop them. The thing to do is stop them immediately, as even the police can enter our homes without judicial authorization. We must not let them in without first take certain precautions, such as calling Repsol, in this case, and ask if you are making revisions the area. "

Once inside the home, inspectors false rubber gas change, the regulatory hand of the bottles and abracederas.

In the five cases reported, the tires were not expired and hands regulators do not expire (have a number but not the expiry date but the serial number.)

Can only be broken and repaired.

Finally, fraud ends with an exorbitant bill.

Given these allegations, the Department of Consumer Affairs reminds the public that any gas installation must conduct a periodic review is the process by which a company visits a home that uses butane gas and certify that the facility is in a proper state of maintenance.

The law states that such reviews be carried out every five years and be issued a Periodic Review Report to conserve demos.

This periodic review can be made by any butane gas installation company that meets the following requirements: be recognized by industry as installation company, and that all staff have the card duly certified installer.

To prevent fraud, the citizen should know that according to Law 34/1998 of October 7 Oil Sector:

The revisions are made before age 5 can not be understood as mandatory periodic review of butane gas.

Before we perform any action, check if we have the review done (as was the case of the complainants), because in that case, the company, whatever, no need to revise our facility.

The consumer is not bound to accept the visit of a technician in your home that offers a regular review of butane gas before the 5 years since the last review.

In the event that had already passed within 5 years since the last review, the consumer is not required to accept a visit from a technician at home, consumers can contact another company that he considers appropriate to carry out review.

At first, the rubber of the gas cylinder should only be changed if it is expired or is defective.

All companies are required to make available to the consumer the complaint forms.

It can also go to the OMIC, which will advise on the handling of the complaint form or the complaint in its case.

If this is a fraud, it is important to make the facts known to the Department of Consumer Affairs to warn the rest of consumers, this fraudulent activity, making his claims necessary and important.
