The Department of Mobility of the City of Molina de Segura, in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Education and Public Road, and Sercomosa, has organized a program of activities for the planting of the trees used last Christmas, in the actions taken for the promotion of sustainable mobility, measures included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of the municipality.
The initiative was presented at a press conference on Monday, March 12, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Mobility, Antonio López Vidal, the Councilor for Education and Public Road, Fuensanta Martínez Jiménez, the Councilman of Environment, Juan Alcaide Quirós, and the Production Director of SERCOMOSA, Pedro Manuel García Martínez.
The SUMP includes a set of actions that aim to implement more sustainable ways of traveling (walking, cycling, public transport) within a city.
The Councilman of Mobility, Antonio López Vidal, has indicated that "the plantation of trees is one of the complementary measures within the program of improvement of the pedestrian mobility to the objective to contribute to a better quality of life for the citizenship".
The activity will take place from 15 to 22 March, aimed at students from seven schools in the districts and schools near the parks of the urban area.
In addition, the program has coincided with the commemoration of World Tree Day, which takes place on March 21.
The Department of the Environment will develop an environmental education activity with the participating schools, to transmit the importance of the trees and raise awareness about the need to respect public spaces.
The Department of Education also contributes with the Educating City project, and, as the Councilor for Education, Fuensanta Martínez, explains, "with the need to offer to all inhabitants training in values ​​and practices of democratic citizenship: respect, tolerance, participation, responsibility and interest in the public, for its programs, its goods and its services, especially the children of our municipality. "
On the other hand, the Councilor for the Environment, Juan Alcaide Quirós, highlighted "the importance of environmental education and participation as a fundamental tool in the management of sustainable urban spaces, since as long as the population is involved, A greater appreciation, awareness and responsibility in the proper use and conservation of these spaces will be achieved, it is worth noting that these actions are carried out in a coordinated manner between different municipal services, thus guaranteeing their adaptation to the needs and use of available resources. "
The program of activities is as follows:
- Thursday March 15: planting in the Rambla de los Calderones and La Barceloneta park, with students from CEIP Cervantes.
- Friday, March 16: planting in the CEIP La Purisima and in the Plaza de La Concordia park in El Llano de Molina, with students from the same center.
- Tuesday, March 20: planting in the green areas around the Juan Pablo II Avenue in El Panderón neighborhood, with students from CEIP Ntra. Sra. De Fátima.
- Wednesday March 21: planting in the Conservation Park with students from CEIP El Romeral, and planting in the CEIP Ntra. Sra. De los Remedios, in La Torrealta, and in the CEIP Vega del Segura and in the Garden of the Social Center of La Ribera de Molina, with students from those centers.
- Thursday March 22: planting in the CRA Campo de Molina of El Fenazar, with students from that center, and planting in the Plaza Movimiento Vecinal, with students from CEIP San Antonio.
