Molina de Segura City Council launches the Senior Activities Program 2018 (09/03/2018)

The City of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Social Welfare, has launched the program of activities of revitalization of the centers for the elderly for the months of March to December 2018, aimed at the population of the municipality with the objective of improving the quality of life of the elderly through activities that promote active aging.

The program was presented at a press conference today, March 9, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro García, the technical manager of the Senior Unit, Manuela Zamora Baños.

On the one hand, CONTINUATION ACTIVITIES are offered, which have been carried out since 2017. There are two types of face-to-face sessions:

Celebration MAYORS OF SILVER, to commemorate the 25 years since the constitution of the centers for the elderly.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the El Llano de Molina Center.

Celebration TRIBUTE TO THE ELDERLY, with recognition to those over 100 years old, and prizes to the elders of the municipality who have excelled in any activity or facet throughout their life.

II VOLUNTEER DAYS, to be held on June 6 at the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium, at the MUDEM.

III DAY MOSTLY MAJOR, during the month of October.

Activities to commemorate and celebrate October 1, International Day of the Elderly.

ACTIVITIES OF THE CONVENTION (the City Council subsidizes 60%, the rest is paid by users)

As it has been doing for two years, the City Council signs a collaboration agreement with the Association of Elderly for Active and Healthy Aging of Molina de Segura, endowed with a subsidy of 22,000 euros, through which the following are taught activities:

Gerontogimnasia.

Therapeutic massage.

Podiatry Service.

These activities are carried out in the centers that demand it;

this year, in 14 senior centers.

On the other hand are the rest of ACTIVITIES OF NEW INCORPORATION:

ACTIVITIES AT NO COST FOR USERS

Laborterapia: sessions of 60 minutes (sewing and / or embroidery of refajos).

4 sessions in 3 centers, during the months of May and June 2018: 12 sessions.

Memory workshop: 60-minute sessions in each of the centers (14 centers) for 2 sessions of psycho-stimulation, where the memory will be worked on: 28 sessions.

New technologies.

Basic level, with 20 sessions of 60 minutes, in 10 centers, during a quarter: 20 sessions.

Photography Workshop MY MEMORIES: 6 sessions per center of 60 minutes, during a quarter, in four centers.

Basic photography course, to get started in the activity and to strengthen the memory through photography.

Memory albums will be made: 24 sessions.

Popular games: 10 sessions per 60-minute center, spread over the entire contract period, in 7 centers: 70 sessions.

Three Intergenerational Workshops: activities of interaction between adults and children, in schools, lasting 2 hours, carried out by two free time instructors:

Traditional games.

Stories and customs.

Preparation of typical sweets.

Rural School Grouped Campo de Molina, in El Fenazar: March 23.

3 sessions

Jubi Rooms / Leisure.

Once a month, live music performance and dancing in the centers of adults, from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Preferably on Saturday, alternating the location so that all the elderly, live where they live, may have the same options to participate in this activity.

8 sessions.

Logo development contest for the elderly, held among the students of the 2nd year of the IES Eduardo Linares Lumeras de Molina de Segura.

MAJORLY RADIO PROGRAM.

The MOSTLY MAJOR program is a space of monthly frequency radio, of one hour, which is presented in magazine format, where the driver is treated in the form of interviews and / or reports to the guests, the different topics selected for each emission.

The calendar is as follows: FEBRUARY, The dream and the Elderly;

MARCH, Commemoration March 8.

Seniors Equality;

APRIL, day 23, Book Day;

MAY, day 28, National Nutrition Day;

OCTOBER, day 1, International Day of the Elderly;

NOVEMBER, day 14, World Diabetes Day;

and DECEMBER, day 20, International Day of Human Solidarity.

ACTIVITIES that the City Council subsidizes 60% (the rest is paid by users)

It is considered to incorporate classes of Yoga and Pre-Pilates, for the elderly, who will require a specific treatment, according to their needs and specific abilities, in the different centers of adults, whose purpose is the promotion of active aging.

Yoga and Pe-Pilates: 60-minute classes, one day a week in 14 Centers: 448 sessions.

Finally, the program also includes ACTIVITIES IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER COUNCILS:

Will participate with the Department of Public Health in the Week of Health, Education and Sports, with an exhibition of the elderly in gerontogimnasia, yoga and pre-pilates.

It will also participate with the Department of Tourism in the Fair of Traditions, and in the Christmas Souk.

And with the Department of the Environment in the RECICLA Y RESPIRA program, organizing talks in the different centers for the elderly.

In Molina de Segura, there are currently fifteen elderly activity groups located in the different neighborhoods and districts.

There is a different reality in each elderly unit and they present an inequality, which must be corrected, working individually with each one of them.

The surest way to avoid isolation is to be able to link people and everything that happens in the environment.
