Some 25 women participate in the free workshops of Social Insertion of the Molina de Segura Municipal Immigrant Program (05/03/2018)

Some 25 people of different nationalities participate in the free Social Insertion Workshops of the Molina de Segura Municipal Immigrant Program, promoted by the Social Welfare Department of the Molinense City Council, as reported by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García.

This municipal program began its journey in December 2017 and will end in May 2018, with the aim of promoting the social integration of the immigrant community in the municipality of Molina de Segura, through actions aimed at gaining access to the municipality's standard resources , developing skills for training and personal autonomy.

According to data from the municipal register, there are a total of 9,200 foreigners in Molina de Segura, which represents 12.90% of the total population (some 72,600 people).

Given the need to monitor cases with difficulties of social integration, as well as cultural vulnerability or uprooting, social insertion workshops are born, to offer resources and social support networks, while monitoring the cases in your insertion process.

The activities of the workshops are carried out on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16.30 to 18.30 hours, in the Social Center of the Neighborhood Association of Fatima, former home of the priest, taught by technicians of the Department of Social Welfare, besides volunteers.

The actions are:

Cooking workshop

With the aim of favoring the socio-labor insertion of the immigrant collective to achieve higher quality employability, it begins on December 5, 2017, and ends on April 12, 2018, with a total of 6 cooking sessions.

Sewing workshop and arrangements.

It aims to provide skills and abilities in sewing, in the arrangement of clothing, to achieve socio-labor insertion.

It begins on January 9, 2018 and ends on May 3, 2018, with a total of 6 sessions.

Crafts workshop.

With this workshop, it is intended to provide communication and relationship between the people who attend, in a recreational and recreational way, to promote the relationship and group cohesion.

It began on December 14, 2017, with the activity of glass and cloth painting, and ended on January 18, 2018. A total of 3 sessions.

All of these workshops are taught by volunteers of the municipality.

On the other hand, a psychologist of the Department of Social Welfare has taught the Personal Development Course favorable attitudes for interpersonal relationships, with the aim of promoting tools and skills for training and training in personal autonomy.

It was developed in the last months of January and February, with a total of 6 sessions.

Lastly, the Municipal Immigrant Program includes information sessions, with the purpose of informing and guiding municipal resources and services.

It begins on March 6, until April 24, from 16.30 to 18.30 hours;

a total of five sessions, which will be held in the Social Center of the Neighborhood Association of Fátima Neighborhood:

Session Mediation, through the Mediation Service of the Department of Social Welfare.

This session will be held on March 6.

Conflict Resolution Session, through the Mediation Service of the Department of Social Welfare.

This session will be held on March 13.

Session of needs and concerns of the immigrant, through volunteering of the Immigration Platform of Molina de Segura: on April 10.

Informative Session Recycles and Breathes, separation of Residues, through the Department of the Environment.

This session will be held on April 17.

Session of municipal resources, given by Social Worker of the Department of Social Welfare: April 24.

All of the five sessions are taught by municipal technicians and volunteers.

According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro, "the assessment of this municipal service of social insertion workshops is very positive, since, being directed to the immigrant population, it supposes a space of intercultural coexistence, in addition to a point of detection and collection of needs and concerns of the immigrant population.It should be noted the importance of social intervention at the group level to achieve the social integration of this group in the community.
