The exposition RETRATOS Y NUDUDOS, by the Molinense artists Pepe Alarcón and Rengo, organized by the Tourism Department of the Molina de Segura Town Hall, opens its doors to the public on Thursday, January 11.
The opening ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. in the Los Postigos Exhibition Hall (at Calle Pensionista, n ° 3).
Attending the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, and the Councilor for Tourism, Andrés Martínez Cervantes.
The sample can be visited until February 25, at the following times: Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 1.30 pm;
Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
and from Tuesday to Friday, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The exhibition consists of 30 paintings, with portraits and nudes of both artists.
According to Pepe Alarcón, "my good friend Rengo, with whom I had already shared an exhibition at the El Jardín Room, invited me to repeat my experience here, in this beautiful and unique space of Los Postigos, where I contributed a monothematic and fairly homogeneous collection for what is usual in my painting, on a subject that I had not touched before: the female nude ".
Pepe Alarcón considers himself as a self-taught amateur.
"I suppose that those who have an academic background are capable of maintaining a line of work and a recognizable work.It is not, of course, my case, which implies an inevitable anarchy in which I feel very comfortable because it allows me to express myself with total freedom But of course, we already know that freedom leads many (most) times to anarchism, and in it I usually move almost whenever I face a blank canvas, I do not say this as an apology, but to clarify the evident contrast between these and other previous works. "
For his part, Rengo, Although born in Murcia, has spent most of his life in Molina de Segura, where he has developed his work as a plastic artist for more than 50 years, mostly focused on painting.
He is the author of more than 5,000 paintings and drawings, and has participated in some 150 solo and group exhibitions.
On this occasion, his works, based on figurative art, are oil paintings and collages with portraits and nudes in which he reviews and interprets works by prestigious artists.
