Coinciding with the celebration of Christmas 2017, the Department of Mobility of the City of Molina de Segura puts into practice some of the measures included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) of the town, approved last June by the Plenary Municipal.
The SUMP includes a set of actions aimed at the implementation of more sustainable forms of travel (walking, cycling, public transport) within a city, thus ensuring a better quality of life for citizens.
Specifically, the actions are included in the improvement program on road, parking and pedestrian mobility.
It involves a functional rearrangement of the road network to improve environmental quality, giving greater prominence to pedestrian mobility.
It will act ordering the circulation around the center, adapting the traffic to the typology of the streets, making it more friendly to the pedestrian and granting more road section to the pedestrian space.
For this purpose, the Calle Mayor de Molina de Segura will have a unique direction, from the exit to Murcia, from Estación Street to the Hermitage of San Roque, from December 26, 2017 until January 7, 2018, when that the sense of traffic will return to normal.
On the other hand, the three weekends of Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and Kings, Jesuit Street Hernandez Perez, at the end of the weekly market, will be used for pedestrian use.
The Councilor for Mobility, Antonio López Vidal, underlines that "the aim is to increase the presence of pedestrians in urban space, so that the quality and habitability of the urban environment improve, guaranteeing pedestrian road safety conditions".
With this idea, children's activities will be carried out in the Plaza de la Cruz and Ermita de San Roque.
"These days the street is for children," says Councilman.
In addition, to promote the hospitality and trade these days, a free bus service is offered, both Christmas weekends, so that the residents of the urbanizations and districts can do their shopping and enjoy, tardeos and the Cavalcade of Kings.
The motto of this campaign is: This Christmas Live Molina, Enjoy Molina, Buy in Molina and Anda Molina!
