The 1st Molina Music Festival, MOMUA 2017, is celebrated from October 20 to November 5 (18/10/2017)

The 1st Molina Music Festival (MOMUA 2017), promoted by the Department of Culture of the City of Molina and the female vocal group of old music DeMusica Ensemble, will take place from October 20 to November 5, in the Auditorium Virginia Martínez Fernández, in the Museum of the Enclave of the Wall (MUDEM).

The event was presented at a press conference on Wednesday, October 18, in the town hall, by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, Councilor for Culture, Pedro Jesús Martínez Baños, and the artistic co-director of the festival, María Ángeles Zapata Castillo.

Under the artistic direction of Mª Ángeles Zapata and Lorenzo Cutillas, MOMUA seeks to give a cultural boost to the city and revalue the historical-artistic heritage of Molina de Segura through an ancient music festival.

For this, several concerts will be held at the MUDEM, taking advantage of the architectural and historical potential of the enclave of the museum.

The MUDEM is a cultural museum space created with the aim of protecting and disseminating remains of the wall of Molina de Segura rescued in 2004, the i? N Mulina Andalusí.

An exciting tour through the history of this typical Andalusian fortification between the XI and XVI centuries.

The Enclave de la Muralla is an urban space destined to become the cultural epicenter of Molina de Segura, housing the Professional Conservatory of Music, the Historical Archive, an exhibition hall and the MUDEM.

The Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium is an ideal place to enjoy this type of music from the XII-XVI century, which will evoke the time of the medieval wall of Molina, which is displayed in the museum.

Through the sounds of repertoires ranging from the twelfth century to the end of the sixteenth century, the beauty of the different sites of the museum will be enhanced, each of these spaces traveling with different sounds appropriate to the environment.

The festival will feature the performances of several groups specialized in the interpretation of ancient music, paying special attention to formations of the Region of Murcia.

The MOMUA bets on medieval and Renaissance repertoires.

It will offer three concerts by the groups: Ensemble La Danserye, on Saturday, October 21, at 8.30 pm, with a program dedicated to the music of ministries;

on Saturday, October 28, at 8:30 p.m., with the female vocal group DeMusica Ensemble, with the program MEMENTO FEMINA, dedicated to women composers;

and the festival will close on Saturday, November 4, at 8.30 pm, the project MUSAFIR: TRAVELERS MEDIEVALES, in charge of the groups Veterum Mviscae and All Tones and Ayres.

There will also be academic training, consisting of four courses, a workshop and two lectures.

The first course will be dedicated to medieval percussion, by Professor Mauricio Molina (Barcelona);

a medieval singing course, with Professor Maria Jonas (Germany);

a course of stringed instruments, with Marco Becchetti (Italy);

and a course of pulsed string instruments taught by Professor Aziz Samsaoui (Granada).

The Renaissance wind instruments workshop will be run by Ensemble La Danserye.

All activities are free until they reach capacity and will be held at MUDEM.
