The act of signing the collaboration agreement between the Molina de Segura City Council and the Association for Parkinson's Disease and other neurological disorders in Molina de Segura (APAMOL) for the development of a non-pharmacological rehabilitation project for people affected by this disease has taken place today Tuesday October 17, in the consistory of Mine.

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of APAMOL, Patricia López López, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, attended.

The agreement includes a municipal subsidy of 5,000 euros.

APAMOL is committed to the following objectives:

Contribute to the rehabilitation of people affected by Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders.

Provide care, counseling and rehabilitation therapies to people affected by this disease and who, due to lack of economic resources, do not have access to other treatments.

APAMOL is an entity dedicated to work with people affected by Parkinson's disease and people with other neurological disorders (dementia, stroke, etc.), with symptoms similar to Parkinson's disease, with relatives and caregivers of those affected .

Through the activities of the entity, a device is available to care for people suffering from Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders.

The majority of cases that have this diagnosis are treated through pharmacology, even though specialists are aware of the benefit of other complementary therapies such as gymnastics and cognitive stimulation.

The APAMOL project that includes this agreement includes services aimed at people affected by Parkinson's disease and neurological disorders, providing the municipality with a resource of social assistance that covers the needs of those affected and their families, as these activities are not covered by the health system.

APAMOL undertakes to carry out the following actions:

Group gymnastics workshop and individualized assistance: 4 hours a week.

Workshop on cognitive stimulation and other complementary therapies: 15 hours a week.

Emotional support workshop and other complementary therapies: 6 hours a week.

Transportation of users: 4 hours a week.

The APAMOL Day Center is located at Calle Mayor, n ° 169 (Centro de la Mujer de San Roque), in Molina de Segura.
