The "12 Million Pedalads" challenge for refugees will be held in Molina de Segura on Monday, 11 September (08/09/2017)

The challenge "12 million pedaladas" by refugees, a commitment of the NGO Fundación Cepaim, will arrive at the Plaza de España in Molina de Segura on Monday, September 11, where it is planned to carry out, after 9.00 am, a varied program of activities of information and solidarity with the aim of sensitizing the population of Moline on the current situation of refugees.

This challenge is a commitment of the Cepaim Foundation and its sponsors, the "la Caixa" Obra Social, the Diputación de Huelva, the Ministry of Justice and Interior of the Junta de Andalucía and the Cajamurcia Foundation, in collaboration with the City Council of Molina de Segura , to raise awareness and obtain the support of institutions, organizations and citizens in the reception of refugees, through the "Reflejad @ s" awareness project funded by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, General Directorate of Migration and the Asylum, Migration and Integration of the European Union.

The initiative was presented today at a press conference by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the State Director of Fundación Cepaim, Juan Antonio Segura Lucas, Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro Garcia, and Councilor for International Cooperation , Pedro Jesús Martínez Baños.

"Between all 12 million" is a challenge that unites 40 cities and all citizens in a bike route of more than 2000 km, from Vila Real de Santo Antonio (Portugal), through Molina de Segura and other towns the Region, until arriving at Colliure (France).

The objective is to help, raise awareness and raise awareness about the situation of refugees.

"A pedaling for each of the almost 12 million refugee children or asylum seekers in the world" (according to Unicef ​​data).

Thus has presented the State Director of Cepaim, Juan Antonio Segura Lucas, this solidarity challenge.

Currently, more than half of the world's displaced persons are minors (51% according to UNHCR data), a group that is even more vulnerable to mafias, violence or exploitation.

Segura has insisted that the need to work together for social cohesion and the need for citizen involvement in the reception of refugees becomes more evident than ever.

In this same sense has been expressed the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, recalling the support and networking that, from the City Council has been carried out in different actions and joint projects with Fundación Cepaim and collaboration with other social entities in the field of citizen participation and the social integration of migrants and refugees.

The people who are performing more than 2,000 km of this challenge are three members of Cepaim, among which is a Murcia.

These people are in charge of carrying out this bike tour and get those 12 million pedals with the support of the citizens.

This is a challenge launched around the world and in which it is expected that more than 2000 people participate by adding pedals at the end of all stages.

This is to involve the whole world, older, young and small in the shelter of refugees, in this case with a symbolic and very simple gesture, acquiring one of the supportive bibs and getting on the bike in family or between friends , when I passed the challenge for the places where it stops.

A dorsal equivalent to 500 pedals (5 euros) that will be added to achieve those 12 million pedaladas that seeks to achieve the initiative.

The joint support can be purchased through the web "www.reto12millones.org" or the same Monday, September 11, as the team of Fundación Cepaim by Molina de Segura.

The State Director of Fundación Cepaim, Juan Antonio Segura Lucas, explained that on Monday September 11, upon arrival in Molina de Segura of the challenge team, it is planned to carry out various activities that are within the campaign #YoSoyRefugio, designed by motor groups composed of indigenous people and in a situation of international protection of Cartagena, Murcia, Alzira, Valencia and Teruel through the project "Reflejad @ s" of Fundación Cepaim and thanks to the financing of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, Directorate General for Migration and the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.

Specifically in Molina de Segura, the team of "Entre todxs 12 million" will arrive at the Plaza de España at 9 am.

There will be installed an information desk, at least half an hour before the start of the tour, where you can buy solidarity backers to collaborate with the challenge, symbolically adding pedals.

Among the most outstanding activities is the information exhibition on the reality of refugee people #YoSoyRefugio, the artistic action "RefugiArte" where different artists perform a pictorial interpretation live of what is the refuge and later in the afternoon the projection of different videos of the #YoSoyRefugio campaign.

In addition four static bikes will be installed so that the citizens of Molina de Segura can contribute with their pedals.

Before the participants in the challenge leave, accompanied by members of the CD Táder Molina and Club Ciclista Molinense, to the next stage, in the town of Ceutí, representatives of the City of Molina de Segura will deliver to the organization a plaque in recognition of the solidarity support of the citizens of Moline with the refugees through their participation in this challenge.

The challenge, "Among all 12 million" has the support and collaboration of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, as well as the municipalities of Molina de Segura, Cartagena Lorca, Totana, Torre Pacheco and Murcia, places where the challenge and different activities are carried out.
