Pilar Adón will chair the jury of the XIV Setenil Prize for Best Book of Stories Published in Spain, convened by the Municipality of Molina de Segura (24/05/2017)

The Municipality of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Culture, convenes the Setenil Award for Best Book of Stories Published in Spain, which this year 2017 already reaches its XIV edition, highlighting the strength and success of one of the Awards most awaited by story writers in our country.

The deadline for submitting books by authors and publishers is already open and ends on June 30, 2017.

The Setenil Prize is endowed with 10,000 euros for the winner, and will be the jury president for this edition with the Madrid writer Pilar Adón, prestigious author of stories that has been named New Talent Fnac for The Cruelest Month and Critical Eye Award for Travel Innocent

Carmen Valcárcel, professor of Literature at the Autonomous University of Madrid, and Aurora Gil Bohórquez, writer and professor of Language and Literature of Secondary Education, will be members of the jury.

The winners in previous editions of Setenil have been Alberto Mendez, Juan Pedro Aparicio, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Sergi Pàmies, Oscar Esquivias, Fernando Clemot, Francisco López Serrano, David Roas, Clara Obligado, Ignacio Ferrando, Javier Sáez de Ibarra, Emilio Gavilanes and Diego Sánchez Aguilar.

The judges have been presided over by writers Ana María Matute, Luis Mateo Díez, Juan Manuel de Prada, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, José María Merino, Javier Tomeo, Andrés Neuman, Fernando Iwasaki, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Hipólito G. Navarro, Juan Bonilla And Eloy Tizón.

Bases of the XIV Setenil 2017 Award for Best Book of Stories Posted in Spain:

The Council of Culture of the City of Molina de Segura, in order to help strengthen the recognition of the story as a literary genre in our country, convenes the XIV PRIZE SETENIL 2017, intended to reward the best book of stories published in Spain in the last Year, in accordance with the following:

BASES

1. The purpose of this Call is to contribute to reinforce the recognition of the story as a literary genre in our country, awarding the best book of stories published in Spain by an author of Spanish nationality between the dates of April 23, 2016 (Book Day ) And April 22, 2017, under a competitive bidding procedure.

The Call will be published in full in the Notice Board of the Town Hall, on the Edictal Plank of the municipal electronic Headquarters (https://sedeelectronica.molinadesegura.es), and an announcement of the same in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia.

The rest of publications to which the current legislation refers will be understood as referring to the Notice Board of the City Council and the Edictal Tab of the Electronic Headquarters of the City Council (https://sedeelectronica.molinadesegura.es)

2. A single and indivisible prize is established for an amount of 10,000 euros for the author of the winning work.

The prize will be awarded under budget line 02 3340 4860203 "Setenil Prize: Book of Accounts" of the expenditure budget 2015 extended to 2017.

3. Requirements for contesting: The XIV SETENIL 2017 PRIZE may be presented, either directly by the publishers or by any natural or juridical person, with storybooks that have the following characteristics:

The books must have been published between the dates of April 23, 2016 (Book Day) and April 22, 2017, the date of publication being understood to be the end of the book's production process (printing and binding).

It must be collections of stories by a single author and Spanish nationality.

Although they may have been originally published in any of the official languages ​​of the Spanish State, only the edition in Spanish can be submitted to this contest.

In the case of works originally written in other languages ​​of the State other than Castilian, the date to be taken into account will be the publication of the translated work.

Books that are reissues of previous ones, or anthologies of stories already published in book format, will not be able to participate.

However, compilations will be accepted when the stories have appeared only in periodicals.

4. Deadline for submission of applications and documentation to be provided.

4.1 Proposals must be sent to the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Molina de Segura, Edificio El Retén, c / Mayor, 81, 30500 Molina de Segura, with the mention of the "Setenil Prize".

4.2.

The following documents will be attached to the application:

Two copies of each of the books presented, which once completed the process will remain the property of the City of Molina de Segura to enrich the funds of its Network of Municipal Libraries.

A statement signed by the sender stating that the production process of the book has ended within the dates indicated in section 3.a;

And that its author is of Spanish nationality.

4.3.

The period for admission of copies will begin on the day following the publication of this call in the BORM and will end on June 30, 2017.

5. Bodies responsible for the Instruction and Resolution of the Procedure:

A commission of preselection designated by the Department of Culture and composed of people with solvency in the subject matter of the prize will choose a maximum of 10 finalist books of all the works presented.

The organization will contact the senders of the selected works to send 2 additional copies.

A jury appointed by the Department of Culture, and composed of four relevant figures from the world of letters that have special relation to the genre of the story will read the finalist books.

Members of the jury will meet between October and November 2017 to issue their ruling.

In case of doubt, the decision as to what is or is not a "book of stories" will only correspond to the jury.

E) The prize can not be declared deserted.

The Department of Culture will raise a proposal for a resolution of the concession to the Local Government Board that is the body responsible for the resolution of the procedure.

6. Advertising and delivery of the prize.

The concession agreement will be published in the Notice Board of the City Council and in the Edictal Plank of the Electronic Headquarters of the City Council (https://sedeelectronica.molinadesegura.es), providing this the effects of the notification to the interested parties in accordance with what Provided for in article 45.1 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The prize will be presented in a public event that will take place in Molina de Segura in December 2017, with the assistance of the members of the jury, and will be preceded by a meeting with readers.

The presence of the winning author will be inexcusable for the prize to become effective.

The Municipality of Molina de Segura will publish an extract that will contain a sample of the winning work and will be distributed non-venal among publishers, critics, writers, universities and other institutions related to the book from all over the country.

7. Justification of the concession.

For the purposes of justification, the provisions of article 30.7 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Grants (LGS), will be applicable, because the prizes are awarded in response to the concurrence of a certain situation of the recipient, It will require another justification than the situation prior to the concession, without prejudice to the controls that may be established.

8. Obligations of the winner.

8.1.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 14.1 of the aforementioned LGS, the participants who are awarded must prove that they are aware of the fulfillment of their tax and social security obligations, and are not debtors of obligations for reimbursement of subsidies.

Likewise, they must submit a declaration that they are not in any of the prohibitions provided for in art.

13 of the aforementioned Law.

8.2.

Any subsequent reprint of the winning work will be written reference to read "XIV Setenil 2017 Prize. Molina de Segura City Council."

The City Council may freely reproduce in any medium the cover of the winning book, as well as a fragment of it in the part to which the sixth base refers.

8.3.

The mere fact of participating in this call entails the full acceptance of the present bases.

The decision of the Jury will be final.

9. Resources.

The agreement of the Local Government Board to grant the Prize, ends the administrative route, and against it can be filed a Contentious-Administrative Appeal within a period of 2 months, from the day following notification to the organ In accordance with Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction, or Appeal of Appeal within a period of one month from the day following the notification Of the concession agreement, as provided for in Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
