The 1st Molina de Segura Traditions Fair, dedicated to the butchers' guild, and organized by the councils of Commerce, Local Festivals and Handicrafts, in collaboration with the Association of Elders for an Active and Healthy Aging of Molina de Segura and the Center for Integrated Training and Experiences in Agrarian Affairs (CIFEA), will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., in the Plaza de España, along with the craft market of Zoco del Guadalabiad.
The event was presented at a press conference on Wednesday, May 3, by Councilman of Commerce, Jose de Haro González, Local Holiday Councilman, Andrés Martínez Cervantes, and the representative of the butchers of Molina de Segura, José Nicolás Jara .
With the 1st Fair of Traditions, Molina de Segura City Council intends to honor the customs of this town, in a first edition dedicated to the guild of butchers and killifiers of old, traditional trades and almost disappeared that constituted one of the bases on Which the municipality was growing and becoming the city that it is today.
The butchers and killers are therefore the protagonists of a party that is born with the aim of making known to their own and strangers the typical customs of the municipality, forgotten trades and traditions, in an environment, the street, which we enjoy the Molinians, always Open to the visitor, in order to become a new tourist attraction of the locality.
The Fair will show live the work of practically extinguished trades like the espartero, the slaughterer, the bolilleras or the peppermen.
The program planned for the whole day includes performances of music and dance from local folklore as well as other nearby municipalities, an Huerta sample, and the Craft Market Zoco del Guadalabiad, which, as usual every month, arrives with more than 20 seats With artisan products from all over the region, such as sausages and cheeses, honey, jewelry, ceramics, brooches, felt and leather goods, paint, wood, mirrors, soaps, natural cosmetics, minerals, etc.
In addition, it will also show the traditional cutting of pig and the elaboration of live sausages, as well as exhibitions of the work of esparto and bolillos, workshops for children, etc.
An extensive program of activities where it will also be possible to taste some of the best typical products of the area, such as migas or sausages.
