Volunteers and volunteers from Molina de Segura celebrated World Tree Day 2017 with a plantation in Soto de la Hijuela. The activity was framed in the Volunteer Environmental Program Voluntari @ s Naturally! (29/03/2017)

And took place on Saturday 25 March |

A total of 15 volunteers and volunteers joined the activity scheduled by the Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura on Saturday 25 March, to commemorate World Tree Day 2017. This activity is part of the Environmental Volunteer Program Voluntari @ s Naturally!

And consisted in the planting of native riverbank trees in Soto de la Hijuela.

It began with an introduction to the characteristics of the Segura River ecosystem and its sotos, the species of flora and fauna that we can find, and the importance of the conservation of the riverbank forest and of a good state of the river ecosystem.

This plantation activity was located within the framework of the programs and actions of conservation and management of the Segura River and its vineyards, and then explained how to develop the plantation.

More than 30 native riverside trees were planted, such as Almez, Fresno and Olmo.

The main activities of the Environmental Volunteer Program are to promote citizen participation in the conservation of the natural spaces of the municipality, mainly the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park, the Segura River and the Las Lagunas wetlands of Campotéjar-Salar Fat.

"We thank the volunteers and volunteers for the work done, the interest and dedication they showed once again and we encourage them to continue collaborating and spreading the value of the space they have helped to conserve," says the Councilor for the Environment, Pellicer Carbonell Capel.

"We also encourage all those interested in the conservation of our natural spaces to join the Environmental Volunteer Program."

The activities are the last Saturday of each month, with prior registration.

The next activity will take place on Saturday, April 29, and will consist of the recovery and consolidation of the Ballets of the terraces of traditional cultivation of the Ecological Park Vicente Blanes, traditional constructions that create biological diversity and serve as a refuge for small animals.
