Sercomosa will subsidize users affected by the drinking water crisis during the month of January (24/03/2017)

The Mayor of Molina de Segura and President of Sercomosa, Esther Clavero Mira, announced that, although the City Council has no responsibility regarding the recommendation not to drink water due to the excessive presence of trihalomethanes, Sercomosa services company will apply the Bonuses corresponding to users of the water service for the five days (between January 4 and 9, 2017) that lasted this recommendation.

The Municipality of Canales del Taibilla (MCT) communicated to the Municipality of Molina de Segura, through the Environmental Health Service of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, that, due to torrential rains, there were problems with The quality of the water they received, and there was a breach of one of the parameters analyzed in the water supply.

Non-compliance generated in the water supplied from the water treatment plant of Sierra de La Espada and completely alien to the municipal infrastructures.

According to the statement issued by the Environmental Health Service of the Ministry of Health, citizens were notified that they should refrain from drinking water from the municipal network until a return to normality was notified again.

It was also reported that the water in this network could be used without risk to the rest of domestic uses, such as: cooking, daily cleaning, cleaning, etc.

According to the Mayor, "we have decided to apply the bonus to the subscribers in the next billing, following the criterion of deducting the proportional part of the service fee for the five days quoted.The total amount of the bonuses amounts to 11,470.12 Euros, and corresponds to domestic consumption, since the problem did not affect, or barely did, industrial consumption. Despite not being municipal responsibility, we understand that we must comply with citizenship.

The Mayor has also reported that the water crisis involved a cost of 11,203.80 euros for Sercomosa, which corresponds to sampling, analytical and desalinated drinking water.
