The City Council of Molina de Segura and the Association for an Active and Healthy Aging start a Mobile Podology Unit (16/03/2017)

The Association for an Active and Healthy Aging of Molina de Segura, through the collaboration agreement signed with the City of Molina de Segura, has launched the Podology Mobile Unit.

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, and the President of the Association for Active and Healthy Aging, Juan Aguilar Gil, visited this new service on Thursday, March 16th, next to Social Center of El Fenazar.

Within the objectives of this association, it is to reinforce the maintenance of the functional capacities of the elderly, acting in a preventive scope, thus increasing their well-being.

The feet, as an irreplaceable element for walking and balance, require special attention;

Their observation and care is an essential part of the integral care of the elderly, especially when the pathology of the foot is almost constant and wide at these ages, so that older people often suffer one or more alterations at the same time.

Pathologies in the feet of the elderly can cause injuries and even difficulty walking, which could cause tripping and falls.

"It is essential to go to the podiatrist to detect possible anomalies and deformities in the foot, which can hamper walking," say the Official Podiatrist Colleges.

With this in mind, and at the suggestion of the Department of Social Welfare, the Association for an Active and Healthy Aging of Molina de Segura has contracted a podiatry service, which is provided through a mobile unit, and which moves to each The major centers of the municipality.

The only requirement to access this service is to belong to the aforementioned association.

The service is provided through a fully equipped vehicle with all the technical means necessary in similar conditions to those of a clinic, by a qualified professional in podiatry, and with all the guarantees and permits that the RES of the Region of Murcia requires for This practice of health.

The fundamental objective of this unit is to respond to the population demand for services, from the immediate and close community context.

It is intended to reach all the elderly pensioners and / or disabled with more than 33% disability, residents in Molina de Segura and who are partners of the Association for an Active and Healthy Aging of Molina de Segura.

The mobile unit has morning hours, starting at 09.00 hours, and serves an average of 8 users.

The price of the consultation per patient is 13 euros.

The partnership, once resolved the collaboration agreement with the city council, currently in process, will finance 60% of the total consultation, which will cost the user 40%.
