The Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura launches the Environmental Volunteer Program to encourage citizen participation in the conservation of the natural spaces of the municipality.
Under the motto "Voluntari @ s! Naturally!", This initiative aims to conserve the natural spaces of Molina de Segura and its environmental values ​​through sensitization and active participation of the population.
The activities of the Environmental Volunteer Program will be carried out between February and October of this year, coinciding with the last Saturday of each month, from 10.00 to 13.00 hours.
In total 8 activities have been programmed, which will be developed in different natural areas of Molina de Segura such as the Zones of Campotéjar-Salar Gordo, the Ecological Park Vicente Blanes and the Soto de la Hijuela in the Segura River.
Volunteers will be able to participate in such tasks as the elimination of invasive vegetation, repopulation, recovery of traditional constructions, monitoring migratory birds, building nest boxes and improving equipment for public use.
The Environmental Volunteer Program is aimed at people over 18 or over 14 years of age with authorization.
Activities are free and prior registration is required.
Those who are interested can join the program at any time whenever the registration is made at least 10 days before the activity takes place.
The Councilor for the Environment, Purificación Carbonell Capel, has highlighted "the importance of collaboration and citizen involvement in the environmental management of our municipality and for the prevention and resolution of environmental problems, and encourage all those interested in conservation of Nature to participate in this voluntary proposal ".
The activities planned under the 2017 Environmental Volunteer Program are as follows:
- THURSDAY FEBRUARY 23: PRESENTATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM.
Introduction day to the natural spaces in which the actions, objectives and contents of the same will be developed.
Opening hours: from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Centro El Jardín (in C / Professor Joaquín Abellán, n ° 2).
- SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25: IMPROVEMENT OF THE HABITAT OF THE CAMPOTÉJAR-SALAR GORDO LAGOONS.
Elimination of invasive plants to promote local vegetation.
Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: Information center and reception of visitors of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar.
Departure from Molina: Plaza de España, at 09:30 h.
Transfer: by private bicycle / own means.
- SATURDAY MARCH 25: PLANTING TREES AND AUTOCONAL SHRUBS FOR THE BEST OF OUR RIVER AND ITS SOTOS.
Celebration of the Day of the Tree, realizing a plantation in the Soto de la Hijuela.
Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: recreational area of ​​Soto de la Hijuela.
Departure from Molina: Plaza de España, at 09:30 h.

- SATURDAY APRIL 29: RECOVERY OF TRADITIONAL CONSTRUCTIONS THAT CREATE BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY AND SERVE REFUGE TO SMALL ANIMALS.
Consolidation of ballets, the terraces of traditional cultivation of the Ecological Park Vicente Blanes.
Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: recreational area of ​​the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park.

- SATURDAY MAY 27: MONITORING MIGRATORY BIRDS IN THE CAMPOTÉJAR-SALAR GORDO LAGOONS.
Preparation of a census and count of migratory birds that visit the lagoons.
Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: Information and reception center of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar.

- SATURDAY JUNE 24: CONSTRUCTION AND PLACEMENT OF BOXES NOS FOR SMALL BIRDS AND MURCIÉLAGOS.
We facilitate the nesting of birds by providing them with safe spaces to create their nests.
Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: recreational area of ​​Soto de la Hijuela.

- SATURDAY 30 SEPTEMBER: IMPROVEMENT OF THE EQUIPMENT FOR THE PUBLIC USE OF THE VICENTE BLANES ECOLOGICAL PARK.
Performances in the arboretum, pond and park trails.
Opening Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: recreational area of ​​the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park.

- SATURDAY OCTOBER 28: SKIING OF A PATH FOR THE SALAD OF THE CAMPOTÉJAR LAGOONS.
Work of clearing and arranging of the trail for the knowledge of the vegetation of this wetland zone.
