The Municipality of Molina de Segura receives a digital copy of the historical documentation corresponding to the reigns of Doña Juana and Carlos I, within the Crimson Project. The act of delivery, in which 15 municipalities participated, took place (13/12/2016)

The Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia has digitized more than one million historical documents corresponding to the period between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries.

Today, Tuesday 13th December, in the General Archive of the Region, the Crimson Project has delivered a digital copy of the archives of the reigns of Doña Juana and Carlos I to 15 municipalities, including Molina de Segura, and From the Becerro Book to the convent of the Carmelites of Caravaca de la Cruz.

The Carmesí project (Catalog of Archives of the Region of Murcia in the Information Society) has digitized since 2005, 1,051,307 images of historical documents from the period between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries, that is to say, seven centuries of the History of the Region.

This was revealed by the Director General of Business Activity and Digital Economy Simplification, Francisco Abril, during the delivery of the digital copies to the institutions participating in the project, carried out in the last completed phase of the project, at an event in Which was also attended by the Director General of Cultural Property, Maria Comas, and also attended by the Archivera municipal Moline, Francisca Jimenez, representing the City of Molina de Segura.

The Municipal Archive of Molina de Segura has been participating in the Crimson Project for several years.

The proceedings of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries are already digitized.

In 2015 (9th phase of the Carmesí) has participated with a Book of time of Carlos I and with Books of Neighborhood.

In 2016 he has also participated with documents from the 19th century;

In particular, books of capitular acts from 1800 to 1818 and books of various distributions from 1808 to 1815.

Specifically, during the last phase of the Crimson, the digitization of all the 18th century capitular acts was completed, and, taking advantage of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the reign of Charles I (1516-1556), all the Municipal documents belonging to that period and his mother, Doña Juana.

Among them are letters and royal citations that were sometimes the means by which the king transmitted to his subjects what today would be current news such as the appointment of a pope, the wedding of the prince or the return of the king himself travel;

Or the books of Lorca in which the rights of irrigation are collected.

They are written on parchment and are very solemn and showy.

In this phase, the convent of Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Caravaca de la Cruz has also taken part, giving its Becerro Book which, with its annotations on the convent's properties, rights and avatars, dating from the beginning of the 17th century to the year 2005, constitutes A magnificent source for its history.

In total, the municipal archives of 15 municipalities (Alhama, Archena, Bullas, Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca, Mazarrón, Molina de Segura, Mula, Murcia, Totana and Yecla) , The General Archive and the Regional Library;

And 125,962 pages have been digitized.

The project Crimesí aims to digitize and catalog all the historical documents guarded in the archives of the Region of Murcia to achieve its preservation and later dissemination through the use of digital technology.

Francisco Abril stressed that "the scale of the project is an important collaborative effort among institutions that contribute their heritage, knowledge, technology and financing."

In this way, they have participated in the project 29, among which a large number of municipalities in the Region stand out, which have contributed their archival funds.

The Integra Foundation assumes the tasks of coordination between institutions, as well as the digitization of the archives and their webcast http://carmesi.regmurcia.com.

The General Archives of the Region of Murcia is in charge of guaranteeing compliance with the regulations in archival matters and of coordinating the relations with the participating archives.

And the Seneca Foundation, for its part, is responsible for the tasks of cataloging and description of the digitized documents.

The Carmesí project is an initiative of Digital Heritage, managed and coordinated by the Integra Foundation, which is funded by European FEDER funds and the Directorate General for Business Activity Simplification and Digital Economy of the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment Of the Region of Murcia.
