The National Folklore Festival of Molina de Segura celebrates its thirty-fourth edition on Saturday September 10 (08/09/2016)

The National Folk Festival XXXIV Molina de Segura is held on Saturday 10th September at 21.30 in the Plaza of Spain, within the framework of the Festivities 2016. Its organization corresponds to the Group Choirs and Dances of Molina, Association regional Francisco Salzillo (member of the Federation of Songs and Dances of Spain, FACYDE), in collaboration with the Department of Local Fiestas del Ayuntamiento molinense.

The Festival will feature the participation of folk groups following:

Chorus and Dance Group Awakening Yesterday, Villanueva de Alcardete (Toledo).

Ikusgarri Dance Group, Portugalete (Vizcaya).

Songs and Dances of Jumilla group.

Group Choirs and Dances of Molina, Francisco Salzillo Regional Association of Molina de Segura.

Participating groups will attend the reception hosted by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Look, and the rest of the Municipal Corporation, the same Saturday 10 September, at 13.00, in the Hall of City Hall.

CHOIR AND DANCE GROUP OF AWAKENING YESTERDAY, DE VILLANUEVA DE ALCARDETE (TOLEDO)

After collection of songs, dances and costumes during the 60s, his foundation dates from 1969. It is now comprised of about 50 people of different ages and united by the love of folklore of their land professions.

In his repertoire seguidillas, jacks, fandangos, jeringonzas, rondeñas and processional dances compiled by the group through oral tradition they included.

In his wardrobe they collected different costumes: Sunday or striped, gala, pilgrimage and peasants manchegos the seventeenth century.

Since 2002 he is member deFACYDE.

DANCE GROUP IKUSGARRI, PORTUGALETE (VIZCAYA)

This group was founded in 1967 and is the fruit of the enthusiasm of a young team partner seeking to collect, preserve and disseminate the rich Basque folklore.

At present, it has more than 60 dancers, performing dances of Bizkaia, Araba, Gipuzkoa, Nafarroa and the Basque-French Zone.

It also has 10 musicians, who play very different native and foreign instruments.

Ikusgarri also has a music and dance school with more than 150 children.

The group has participated in cycles of Basque culture, exhibitions and parties, and has been present with their dances and music in many corners of the Basque Country.

Every year in July, coinciding with the festivities of their neighborhood (San Cristobal), organizes a dance festival in which participated numerous national and international groups.

The group has also conducted cultural exchanges and has participated in a lot of exhibitions.

GROUP OF JUMILLA CHOIR AND DANCE

It was created in 1940, and six years later gets the first prize in the National Contest of Songs and Dances.

They have participated in numerous national and international festivals and folklore events of a number of countries and have acted in the Murcia Pavilion at Expo '92 in Seville.

Given its geographical location, Jumilla is a region of passage and crossroads of cultures, and this is reflected in its folklore, which makes it richer and more varied.

Its most obvious influences come from Albacete, Alicante and Murcia, and all her dances have in common the simplicity, elegance, slowness, striking and unmistakable stamp of majesty.

Regularly, cultural activities focused on the dissemination of popular culture of Jumilla and its region, such as exhibitions, popular music, school days and informative programs on local radio and television are made.

GROUP DANCES OF MOLINA CHOIRS AND REGIONAL ASSOCIATION Francisco Salzillo, Molina de Segura.

The Group of Songs and Dances of Molina was created in 1987 with the aim of recovering the dances and traditions of the town and the region of Vega Media.

Among its 40 components they have been recovered dances, until then virtually forgotten, and traditions such as dancing Bids, Innocents Day and the Local molinense suit, rescued from the municipal archives.

After its presentation at the Romea Theater of Murcia, the group has performed in several national and international festivals in Granada, Barcelona, ​​Ciudad Real, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, etc.

In 1992 were the representatives of their city in the Universal Exposition in Seville.

Since its inception maintain a local Academy of folklore, with more than 100 students, through which they have created a Children's Dance Group.

They also organize annual National Folklore Festival of Molina.
