The City of Molina de Segura launches Safe and Healthy Way to School project (08/03/2016)

Safe and Healthy Way to School project, promoted by the departments of Public Safety and Traffic, Public Roads, Education and Citizenship of the City of Molina de Segura, was presented at a press conference Tuesday March 8.

The presentation was attended by the Councillor for Citizen Security, Local Police and Traffic, Miguel Angel Rodriguez Torres, Councillor for Education, Maria Jose Hernandez Cano, and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Lola Vicente Quiles.

The Department of Public Safety and Traffic done, since the creation of the Education Park Road, the Municipal Road Safety Education Program in which public and subsidized schools located in the municipality that request involved.

Specifically in the last edition of the program they involved more than 3,000 school children and youth in the municipality.

As a complement thereof, during the 2014/2015 Safe and Healthy Way to School project was launched in the CEIP Our Lady of Fatima, whose aim was to: increase the autonomy of students attending schools in the municipality;..

reduce the presence of private vehicles in access to school, improving accessibility and security conditions in the school environment, safety signage and pedestrian access routes;

and visualize walking as a means of basic transportation in childhood.

This project is conducted under the auspices of the General Directorate of Traffic, within the Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020, from the premise of ensuring road safety for all, in different forms of displacement and in various contexts.

For this course 2015-2016 the City Hall program molinense the second edition of this initiative;

although, this time, objectives, centers and expand figures involved, performing in coordination with municipal departments of Traffic, Public Safety, Public Roads, Education and Citizenship.

As explained by the Councillor for Public Safety, Miguel Angel Rodriguez Torres, "it is will the City get gradually reach all schools in the municipality, although as you go putting in place in some, may include other, depending on the capacity implementation and consolidation of already instituted programs. for this course, regarding the election of the participating centers, have taken into account criteria such as a public school, CEIP Sacred Heart, a concerted center, CC Sagrada Familia, one of districts, CEIP La Purisima, and other developments, CC Vistarreal ".

The purpose of the project is to analyze the situation regarding pedestrian accessibility and motorized around these centers, in order to take measures to improve this situation, and with the following stakeholders: teachers, non-teaching centers, municipal technicians , traffic department, parents and neighbors of the districts where the centers are located.

The Way to School Safe and Healthy project manifests the need to place the mobility of children at the center of public action, in order to create network of safe routes, promoting autonomy, promote healthy habits and act in favor of the environment.

This project is included within the framework of Molina de Segura as City Educator, highlighting the importance of this innovative project incorporating opinion, collaboration, and consultation of the stakeholders directly involved and the impact their participation and realization of contributions in a municipal project.

OBJECTIVES

Make a diagnosis and analysis of the current situation of access / mobility to schools.. CEIP Sacred Heart, CEIP La Purisima, CEIP Our Lady of Fatima, Vistarreal CC and CC Sagrada Familia.

Gather information from all stakeholders (schools, AMPA, neighbors and City Hall) as travel habits, mobility and environmental characteristics.

Improve conditions of public roads in the streets near the school.

Create a network of safe routes for children / as they can move walking in their daily trips to school independently.

Reduce No private vehicles that carry children to school, acting on behalf of air quality, improving the environment and road safety.

Betting on mobility, healthy, sustainable and secure access to schools.

Make safe and attractive way home from school.
