For this day, the information and visitor reception service proposes, to all those interested in knowing the environmental wealth of Molina de Segura, discover a wetland included in the catalog of wetlands of the municipality.

This is the Paraje de la Poza, a place located in the district of El Rellano and where we find exuberant vegetation thanks to the presence of one of the few springs that supplied water to the ancient inhabitants of this place in the north of the municipality . In order to discover the environmental values ??of this unique space, informative and informative materials will be provided that will make it possible to identify both the main botanical species characteristic of this wetland and the geological formations found in its vicinity, as well as the origin of the latter.

To complete this activity, like every opening Sunday, you can visit, at the Nature Information Center, the permanent exhibition The history of Molina through its fossils. The Paraje de la Poza is the result of the erosion that the marls have suffered with respect to the reef limestones, rocks formed by compacting materials that come from algae, corals and other marine organisms that inhabited this area millions of years ago.

Added to this erosion is the existence of an aquifer or groundwater mass, where an upwelling originates that has given rise to a small oasis in which, among other species, palm trees and reeds appear.

This water point has supplied the inhabitants of El Rellano for years, and the herds during transhumance.

Near the Paraje de la Poza you can see a fossilized reef building, where you can discover branched and globular colonies of corals of the genus Tarbellastraea and Porites.
